Amity University, Mumbai B.Tech Admissions 2025
ApplyRanked amongst top 3% universities globally (QS Rankings)
Candidates must have completed a B.E./B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institute.
A minimum of 60% aggregate marks (or 6.0 CGPA out of 10) is generally required. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, a relaxation of 5% is usually applicable.
A valid GATE score in Mechanical Engineering (ME) is essential for regular admission.
Candidates who have completed their B.Tech from any IIT with a high CGPA (usually above 8.0 or 8.5) may be eligible for direct admission without a GATE score.
For IIT Roorkee and IIT Kanpur, this provision mainly applies to IIT B.Tech graduates.
Through COAP Portal:
After qualifying GATE, candidates must register on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Offers for M.Tech admission are communicated through COAP based on GATE scores.
Application to IITs Separately:
Candidates must also apply separately on the official websites of IIT Roorkee and IIT Kanpur for M.Tech programs. Personal, academic, and GATE details must be filled carefully.
Direct admission is mostly offered based on GATE scores without any interviews or written tests for regular M.Tech programs.
For some specializations or research-based M.Tech programs, candidates might be called for a written test or interview.
The Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department offers various M.Tech specializations.
High GATE scorers typically get direct admission into the program.
The Mechanical Engineering Department offers a two-year M.Tech program with strong research exposure.
Selection is primarily through GATE scores. In some cases, written tests or interviews may be conducted depending on the specialization.
Admission notifications are usually released around March to April every year.
Required documents include GATE scorecard, academic certificates, identity proof, and category certificates (if applicable).
M.Tech students usually receive a stipend of Rs 12,400 per month under the Ministry of Education norms after GATE qualification.
COAP conducts multiple rounds for offer acceptance, so candidates must regularly check the portal for updates.

Hy,
When comparing different IITs and their respective programs, it's essential to consider factors such as placement statistics, career opportunities, faculty, research facilities, and overall reputation.
If you value the prestige and established placement record of a more established IIT, IIT Kanpur would be a strong choice for mechanical or chemical engineering. If you're interested in emerging fields with strong placement potential and can leverage the growing reputation of newer IITs, Mathematics and Computing at IIT Mandi, Ropar, or Patna is also an excellent option.
Hello student,
With a
rank of 63,000
in
JEE Mains
and belonging to the
EWS (Economically Weaker Section)
category, your chances of securing a seat in an
NIT
or
IIIT
may be limited, particularly for popular branches like
Computer Science
.
Potential Opportunities:
NITs:
Newer or Lesser-Known NITs: You might have a chance in some of the newer NITs or those with lower cutoffs. Examples include NIT Puducherry, NIT Nagaland, or NIT Sikkim. However, branches like Computer Science might still be challenging.
IIITs:
Newer IIITs: Institutions like IIIT Kalyani, IIIT Bhagalpur, or IIIT Una may offer seats in branches related to Engineering or Information Technology.
Other Institutes:
Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs): Look into GFTIs which might have less competitive branches available.

Hello Aspirant,
There is no concept of getting a free seat in IITs . You need to clear jee advanced to get into these colleges . And you need to be under atleast 2-3k to get a good branch in these IITs in these colleges.
The cut offs although varies a bit depending upon the certain factors such as number of candidates appearing in the examination, previous year cutoffs and difficulty level of the paper.
Hello Aspirant,
Hope you are doing great. Most of the time, IITs are superior to NITs. However, in this instance, NIT Warangal's will be much better than IIT Thirupathi's.
The faculty at NIT Warangal are excellent in mechanical, and the school has a good placement record. Placements: Every year, about 80% of applicants are hired; NIT Warangal is actually excellent in this regard. There are now more businesses visiting it than in previous years.
Equally, IIT Kanpur, which is one of the best colleges for mechanical students, can also be chosen because it offers better placement opportunities in addition to strong academic programmes and a top-notch infrastructure.
ALL THE BEST
