Analysis of the past five years of JoSAA counselling shows a clear divide in admission chances at top NITs. Candidates from other states often need significantly higher JEE Main ranks than home-state applicants for high-demand branches like Computer Science. For instance, NIT Trichy’s 2025 data shows Other-State CSE closing rank around 1,449, while Home-State closing rank was about 4,569, indicating a gap of roughly 3,000 ranks. Similar trends are observed at NIT Warangal and NIT Surat, highlighting tougher cut-offs for outsiders.

Hi,
Your class 12th passing year would be 2025, as your improvement exam marks have replaced your previous marks. You should enter 2025 as the passing year for JEE Mains 2026, as NTA considers the year in which you last appeared and passed all the subjects, even if you originally passed earlier.
Hope it helps!!!

Don’t worry, this mistake can usually be fixed. NTA opens a correction window for JEE Main forms, where you can edit details like your 10th or 12th registration number. Once it’s open, log in to the official site and correct your entry. If the correction window has already closed, you should immediately email or call NTA explaining that you entered your 10th registration number instead of the 12th. They often allow such corrections through official requests. Keep screenshots and proof of your emails for safety. Stay calm, this won’t affect your eligibility if corrected in time.
