JEE Main Marks Vs Percentile Vs Rank

JEE Main 2021 Marks vs Percentile Normalization:

Normalization is incorporated to equalise the difficulty levels of the exam when it is conducted in multiple sessions. So NTA will declare the percentile in JEE Main obtained after normalization. Percentile scores indicates the percentage of candidates that have scored equal to or below (same or lower raw scores) that particular percentile in that examination and this is generally from a scale of 100 to 0 for each session of examinees. Therefore, the higher scorer of each session will end up securing the same percentile of 100 which is desirable.

NTA will compile the raw marks of the students and normalize the same to arrive at the percentile scores for each subject – Maths, Physics and Chemistry as well as total. The highest score of each session will get the same percentile of 100 which is ideal. The marks obtained in between the highest and lowest scores will also be converted to percentiles. This percentile score will be used for the preparation of the merit lists. It is to be noted that the percentile scores will be calculated up to 7 decimal places such that bunching effect can be reduced as can ties amongst candidates with the same scores.

JEE Main Marks vs Percentile 2021 - How NTA Scores are Calculated

The detailed process with examples for the JEE Main 2021 normalization is explained here

Tie breaker guidelines: these guidelines come into effect when two or more candidates obtain equal percentile scores. The inter-se-merit- is determined in the order given as follows

  • Candidates obtaining higher Percentile Score in Mathematics will be ranked higher.

  • Candidates obtaining higher Percentile Score in Physics will be given the higher rank

  • Candidates obtaining higher Percentile Score in Chemistry will get the higher rank

  • Candidates older in age will be given preference

The result of JEE Main is released separately for each of the sessions. The best of the NTA scores is taken for candidates who attempt all the sessions. The merit list will be prepared on the final scores and ranks announced on the basis of the same. Also, candidates may check the marks required for 90 percentile in JEE Main and get a preparation plan.

if i have a good coaching with great study material and dpps which books i should follow for self study for jee Advanced

anirudha vats 12th Apr, 2021

Hey,

The key factor to outshine or achieve good score in any exam is the Self Study. No matter how good the coaching and it's materials are if you don't do self study it's all in vain. You need to be focused and keep on practising on regular basis.

It's always said that it's better to study one book multiple times rather than reading many books. Try to follow the same thing. Read the materials or the books you find yourself comfortable with. If you understand the material of you coaching well you should go for that only.

Stick to one and practice as more as possible.

Hope that helps.

All the best.

Thank you

mark vs persentile jee main 2021

Sharon K Rose Student Expert 12th Apr, 2021

Hello,

It is difficult to predict the JEE Main 2021 marks vs percentile trend. Because it depends on number of candidates appeared, top score in the examination, normalized marks etc. So the marks vs percentile trend changes every year. As of now JEE Main April session and JEE Main May session is yet to be conducted. So the marks vs percentile trend for JEE Main 2021 will be released after the final result declaration. SO you have to wait until then. You can click on the link below to check the JEE Main 2020 Marks vs percentile trend

I got 88.87 percentile in jee main march 2021 attempt. Can i get a NIT and able to sit in jee advance blonging from OBC-NCL Category.

Anurag Khanna 12th Apr, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

According to the percentile you have mentioned your rank is expected to be in the range of 113860 - 127995 , you can check out marks Vs ranks Vs Percentile from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-percentile

Or

You can also use JEE-Main Rank Predictor to predict your rank :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor

So on such rank and category you have some chances to get the enlisted NITs if you have Home state quota for them :-

NIT Hamirpur

NIT Goa

NIT Agartala

NIT Nagaland

You can check out previous year's cut-offs from the official website of JOSAA as given below :-

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA or CSAB and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

Expected JEE-Main 2021 cut-offs to become eligible for JEE-Advance 2021 are as follows :-

Common Rank List (CRL) - 90- 95 Percentile

GEN-EWS - 70- 75 Percentile

Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 70- 75 Percentile

Scheduled Caste (SC) - 50- 55 Percentile

Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 40- 45 Percentile

PwD - 1-2 Percentile

So as per the above table you have good chances to get qualified for JEE-Advance 2021 on such percentile and category. But note that in above table it is not the actual cut-off for JEE-Main 2021 but expected on the basis of previous year's analysis. You can check out previous year's cut-off trends from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff

So you can use JEE-Main College Predictor to predict your chances of admission in different engineering colleges of India on the basis of your JEE-Main 2021 result :-

Or

You can also use JEE-Main Rank Predictor to predict your rank :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor

So on such rank and category you have no chance to get any of the NITs/IIITs/CFTIs, so I would recommend you to either go for state counselling for state GFTIs or for private colleges like :-

Government Engineering College Bikaner/Ajmer

Amity University

UPES Dehradun

RTU Kota

Or you can prepare for further attempts of JEE-Main and to help you in your preparation we have some resources which you can access from the link given below :-

https://learn.careers360.com/jee-main-coaching/?utm_source=%20QnA
