High-Weightage Topics for JEE Main Based on the Last 5 Years - Getting ready for JEE Main 2027 can actually feel a bit easier if you know what chapters have come up a lot in previous years, some of them repeat more than we expect. Students should not only figure out which chapters need extra attention but also which specific concepts get asked again and again in the papers, and then balance all of that across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. In this article, we’re sharing the high-weightage topics for the JEE Main exam based on the last five years analysis, from 2022 to 2026. The full analysis covers chapter-wise weightage for Physics, chapter-wise totals for Chemistry and chapter-wise weightage for Mathematics, plus some practical preparation tips, so you can plan better.

If you have completed most of the JEE Main syllabus, then follow this 30-day revision plan to get a good score, practise JEE Main previous-year questions and improve your speed. If you still have major chapters left to cover, focus on completing the high-weightage concepts first and adjust the schedule according to your preparation level.
Days | Focus | Tasks |
1–7 | Physics | Revise selected chapters, formulas and previous-year questions |
8–14 | Chemistry | Cover Physical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry revision |
15–19 | Mathematics | Practise the listed concepts and solve timed problem sets |
20–24 | Mixed practice | Attempt subject-wise tests and revisit weak chapters |
25–28 | Mock tests | Attempt full-length papers and analyse mistakes |
29–30 | Final revision | Review formulas, reactions, short notes and recurring errors |
No. | Common Mistakes | What You Should Do Instead |
1 | Studying only the highest-weightage chapters | Use historical weightage to prioritise revision, but cover the full syllabus as far as possible. |
2 | Confusing five-year totals with questions per paper | Check the number of years, shifts and papers included in each weightage table. |
3 | Comparing chapter totals with concept totals | Compare similar units of measurement, such as chapter-wise data with chapter-wise data. |
4 | Ignoring the current syllabus | Follow the latest available syllabus on the official JEE Main website. |
5 | Memorising formulas without practising questions | Revise formulas and solve numerical problems independently to learn how to apply them. |
6 | Taking mock tests without reviewing mistakes | Analyse incorrect, unanswered, and time-consuming questions, then revise the concepts that need improvement. |
