UPTAC Eligibility Criteria 2026 - AKTU will release the UPTAC 2026 eligibility criteria for B.Tech on the official website, uptac.admissions.nic.in. Candidates will be able to check the eligibility criteria for UPTAC 2026 on this page once it is released. The eligibility criteria outline the minimum conditions that candidates must meet to apply for UPTAC B.Tech counselling 2026. Students registering for JEE Main 2026 are reporting technical difficulties while updating their Aadhaar details on the NTA’s official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. Many said the site does not respond after clicking the submit button, redirecting them to the same page despite repeated attempts. Some aspirants noted that waiting for two hours or retrying intermittently helped, but the issue continues for several candidates. NTA began registrations on October 31, which will close on November 27, with session 1 scheduled from January 21 to 30 and results expected on February 12.

Candidates must be aware of the eligibility criteria for UPTAC 2026 before applying for the exam. Below are the eligibility criteria for UPTAC based on various parameters.
Nationality: Candidates must be an Indian national/NRI/PIO or foreign national to be eligible for UPTAC 2026.
Age Limit: There is no age limit.
Domicile: Candidates must have either passed the qualifying exam from any institution in Uttar Pradesh or must be a domicile of Uttar Pradesh to be eligible for AKTU 2026. In the case of being a domicile of Uttar Pradesh, a candidate will have to produce a domicile certificate of their parents (Father or mother) during the verification process.
If a candidate is not domiciled in Uttar Pradesh and has passed the qualifying exam from any institute of the state, he/she will also be eligible to apply for UPTAC 2026. However, such candidates will be considered for admission to only 20% of the sanctioned seats available in private institutions affiliated with Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). Other than this, such candidates will not be offered reservation benefits.
Qualifying Exam and Marks- Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination from UP Board or equivalent to be eligible for UP B.Tech 2026. The qualifying subjects and marks in the qualifying exam differ according to various programs. For admission to the B.Tech course candidates must have a valid JEE Main scorecard 2026. For B.Tech (AG/BT) admissions, candidates have to appear for UPTAC 2026. The following table shows the subject combination and marks in the qualifying exam of UPTAC 2026.

Foreign Nationals/PIOs must fulfil the following eligibility conditions to be eligible for UPTAC 2026-
Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, which is considered equivalent to the (10+2) exam by the Association of Indian Universities.
Candidates must submit a copy of their passport in support of their Nationality.
The authority will announce the UPTAC application form 2026 release date on the official website. The UPTAC 2026 registration will begin in May 2026. Before filling out the form, candidates must fulfil the UPTAC 2026 eligibility criteria. The application process for UPTAC 2026 will include registration, after which candidates must fill in all required details along with uploading scanned images of their photograph and signature as specified by the authorities. The final step is the payment of fees, which can be paid through online mode.

To be eligible for Himachal Pradesh state quota you must have passed atleast two examinations from Himachal pradesh including the 10th and 12th grades. The other criteria are for government employee wards, if the parents have worked there for atleast two years and completed their 10th and 12th from HP.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is extremely strict about data matching. When you fill out the JEE application, you are required to enter your name, date of birth, and your parents' names exactly as they appear on your 10th-grade marksheet.
The problem will occur during identity verification. The system will try to match the details you entered (from your 10th marksheet) with the data stored in your Aadhaar. When it sees that the father's name does not match, your application will be flagged for a mismatch and will likely be rejected. Even though your name is correct, a mismatch in your father's name is considered a critical data error.
You have time before 2026, so you must get this fixed. The best solution is to get your Aadhaar card corrected. Go to a permanent Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) with your original 10th marksheet and use it as the official proof to update your father's name on your Aadhaar. Do not wait until the JEE registration period begins, as this process can sometimes take time.
