The JELET Exam will use a simple marking scheme. There are 100 questions with a total of 120 marks.
Category I
All questions will be of multiple-choice with four options.
Only one of the four possibilities is correct.
The candidate will receive one mark for each correct answer.
For each incorrect answer, one-quarter of a point will be deducted.
There are no marks for unanswered questions.
If more than one response is marked in a single question, the question is considered incorrect, and 0.25 marks are deducted.
There is no special category of questions based on the subject or section.
Category II
All questions will be multiple-choice with four options.
For each correct answer, the candidate will receive two marks.
If a wrong option is selected for an answer with multiple options, it will be considered incorrect even if the other options are correct.
For partially correct answers, i.e. answers with no incorrect options selected, marks will be awarded using the formula = 2 * (No of correct options marked / Total number of actual correct options).
Every double incorrect answer will result in a quarter-point deduction.
There are no marks for unanswered questions.
During the exam, candidates must carefully read the instructions for filling out the optical machine-readable response (OMR) sheet. To give you an idea, some general instructions are provided below.
For each question, only one response should be provided.
Mark the circles only with a blue/black ballpoint pen.
Other types of markings will not be accepted as an answer. Do not use incomplete circles, cross marks, tick marks, pencils, dot marks, circular marks, overwriting, circular marks, scratching, erasing, white inks, etc.
Do not erase, change, or edit any of the responses already marked on the OMR sheet.
