The authority will release the TNEA 2026 seat allotment list on the official website. Candidates can check the TNEA seat allotment PDF to know the colleges and branches offered. After the seat allotment, candidates have to report to the allotted college with the required documents. Candidates have to pay the admission fees. The authorities is conducting the TNEA 2026 counselling process from May 3 to June 2, 2026 online mode at the official website. Candidates have to participate in the counselling process of TNEA 2026 as per the schedule released by the authorities. The authorities group the shortlisted candidates according to their ranks. Candidates can refer to the following steps to understand the detailed procedure of counselling of TNEA 2026.
Step 1 - Release of the eligible candidates list - The authorities will release the list of all the eligible candidates on the official website. Only those candidates who will be listed are eligible to appear in the TNEA 2026 counselling process.
Step 2 - Payment of fee - Next, all the eligible candidates will be required to pay the TNEA counselling fee 2026 in an online mode. Only those candidates who will pay the fee before the last date will be able to participate in the counselling of TNEA 2026.

Step 3 - Filling choices - After payment of the TNEA 2026 counselling fee, candidates will have to log in to the TNEA portal using their user ID and password (the same that was used at the time of registration). Upon successful login, candidates will have to choose their preferred choices of institutes and courses.
Step 4 - Locking of choices - The next step is locking of the selected choices. Candidates will have to finally lock the entered choices on the third day after the commencement of the round. No modification will be allowed after locking. Once the choices are locked, a PDF document containing the list of choices locked by the candidates will be sent to their registered email with the generated integrity code. The integrity code is to prevent any further modification to the applicant’s choice list that has been submitted. If a candidate fails to lock his/her choices within the stipulated time, the system will automatically lock the choices.
Step 5 - Tentative allotment - The system allows the tentative seats to the candidates as per the choices filled by them. Candidates will be able to check the tentative TNEA seat allotment by logging into their accounts.
Step 6 - Submission of allotment offer- After the seat allotment of TNEA 2026, the candidates will have the option to confirm, decline or reject the offer.
If a candidate is allotted a seat, he/she has the following options-
Accept the offer.
Confirm the offer with upward movement.
The upward movement here means that the candidate wishes to change his allotted seat and participate in further rounds of counselling.
Decline the offer and opt for upward movement.
Quit TNEA Counselling.
If a candidate is not allotted any seat as per his choice, he/she has the following options-
Opt for upward movement.
Opt to participate in the next round of TNEA counselling 2026 as per the next round’s vacancy position.
Quit TNEA 2026 Counselling.

Note- If a candidate fails to submit any allotment option within the stipulated time, then his/her seat will be cancelled. However, the candidates can participate in further rounds of counselling.
Step 7 - Final Allotment - As per the options entered by the candidates, the authorities will finally allot seats. TNEA seat allotment result are made available on the official portal.
Step 8 - Admission - Finally, candidates who will be allotted seats in the final allotment will have to report to the allotted institute for the payment of the admission fee and confirmation of seats.
If a candidate is not allotted any seat during counselling of TNEA 2026, he/she can claim for refund of the initial deposit. The refund will be made according to the TNEA procedure.
The authorities will hold a separate TNEA 2026 counselling for special reservation category candidates. TNEA 2026 Counselling for Eminent sportspersons, Differently abled persons, Sons and daughters of Ex-servicemen, Vocational candidates, and Supplementary Counselling and counselling for vacant seats of SCA was held in person only. However, candidates must note that all online counselling activities, like making payments, adding choices, locking choices, submission of allotment options, and final allotment, will be performed through the TNEA Web portal 2026.
