    HPCET Reservation Criteria 2026 - HPTU has published the HPCET 2026 reservation criteria on its official website, himtu.ac.in. The authority has released the reservation criteria of HPCET 2026 along with the prospectus. It consists of details on the percentage of seats reserved for various categories. 80% of the total sanctioned seats for HP State Quota (HPSQ) seats. Aspirants of the Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test must check the reservation criteria. Candidates who seek admission to the reserved seats have to submit the certificates supporting their claims, apart from qualifying for the HPCET 2026. The participating institutes of HPCET will offer B.Tech admission as per the reservation criteria. Candidates will have to participate in the HPCET counselling for admission based on the entrance exams. The participating institutions provide admission based on JEE Main or HPCET.     The Himachal Pradesh Technical University has released the HPCET reservation criteria through the information brochure. Each institute has a certain number of seats that are reserved for candidates belonging to different categories, such as SC/ST. Candidates can check the reservation criteria of HPCET 2026 on this page.

    All India Quota (AIQ) seats

    15% of the total sanctioned seats

    These seats will be offered to candidates belonging to any State or Union Territory, including Himachal Pradesh

    HP State Quota (HPSQ) seats

    80% of the total sanctioned seats.

    65% of the total sanctioned intake for private institution.


    In each institute within the sanctioned intake, one seat will be under the Beti Hai Anmol Scheme for a single girl child of a Himachali domicile

    These seats will be offered only to eligible Himachal bonafide candidates.


    The parents of a girl child seeking admission under the Beti Hai Anmol Scheme will have to submit an affidavit attested by the Executive Magistrate, clearly stating that they have only a single girl child and have no other living son/daughter.

    Seats for non-resident Indians

    5% of total sanctioned seats


    Management Seats in Private Institutions only

    15% of the total sanctioned intake

    These seats will be filled by eligible candidates in their respective institutions

    Supernumerary seats

    Tuition Fee Waiver Seats

    5% of the seats in every course with subject to the fulfilment of AICTE norms.



    • These seats will be offered to bonafide/domicile Himachali candidates belonging to IRDP, BPL, Antodaya & orphan families.


    • These seats will be available in the courses where at least 30% of the sanctioned seats are filled.


    • In case seats are left vacant, it will be filled with candidates whose family annual income is less than Rs. 8.00 lakhs from all sources.

    Foreign National/ Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries

    15% seats in every course in each institute upon the fulfilment of AICTE norms


    Kashmiri migrant

    2 seats in each institute

    Kashmiri migrants will have to provide a certificate issued by a recognized authority clearly supporting their claim


    Vertical and Horizontal HPCET Reservation Criteria 2026 (for HP State Quota Seats only)

    Candidates seeking admission through vertical or horizontal HPCET reservation criteria 2026 have to submit the certificate supporting their claim. Candidates who fail to submit the documents will not be offered admission to the reserved seats.

    HPCET Reservation Criteria 2026 — Salient Features

    • Candidates have to provide valid certificates or documents to prove their HPCET 2026 eligibility for admission to reserved seats.

    • Reserved category seats that are left vacant will be transferred to the general category towards the last round of HPCET 2026 counselling.
