Definition- Inertia is the property of a body by which it continues to remain in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless an external force acts on it.
It is a dimensionless and unitless quantity.
Types of inertia:-
Ex- Person standing in the bus thrown backward when the bus starts suddenly.
Ex- Person standing in a moving bus thrown forward when the bus stops suddenly.
Ex- The raindrops falling vertically downwards cannot change their direction of motion.
