Things to Carry for JEE Main 2026 Exam: Candidates can check the things to carry for the JEE Main exam 2026 on this page. Aspirants need to be aware of the National Testing Agency guidelines and instructions they need to follow to avoid troubling situations on the day of the JEE Main 2026 exam. The candidates must bring the hall ticket of JEE Main 2026, a photo identity card, a photograph, a self-declaration compulsorily, in addition to a transparent water bottle, a person with disability caste certificate if claimed for the seat at the examination centre. The authority will conduct the NTA JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam between January 21 to 30, and Session 2 will be held between April 2 to 9, 2026.
As per the JEE Main 2026 marking scheme, 4 marks will be given for each correct answer, 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer, and no marks will be given for questions left unattempted.

Candidates are advised to report to the examination centre well ahead of time, at least two hours before the start of the exam, to avoid missing any essential instructions. Candidates are strictly prohibited from carrying the following items into the examination hall for JEE Main 2026:
Instruments, geometry or pencil box, handbag, purse
Any kind of paper, stationery, or textual material (printed or written)
Eatables and water (loose or packed)
Mobile phone, earphones, microphone, pager
Calculator, Docupen, Slide rules, log tables
Camera, tape recorder, electronic watches with calculator functions
Any metallic items or electronic gadgets/devices

A printed copy of the Admit Card along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA Website, filled in and printed clearly on A4-size paper.
One passport-size photograph (the same as the one uploaded in the Online Application Form) to be pasted on the designated space in the Attendance Sheet at the examination centre.
Any one of the authorised photo IDs (must be original, valid, and non-expired) – School Identity Card/ PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/ Aadhaar with photograph/ Ration Card with photograph/ Class X I I Board Admit Card with photograph/ Bank Passbook with Photograph.
PwD/PwBD certificate issued by the authorised medical officer, if claiming the relaxation under PwD/PwBD category or PwD/PwBD Certificate regarding physical limitation in an examination to write as per Annexures given in Information Bulletin, if claiming the relaxation under PwD/PwBD category.

The authority will announce the JEE Main 2026 admit card release date on the official brochure. Candidates can access the same through the JEE Main login credentials, such as application number and date of birth.

Reporting Time & Seating: Candidates are required to reach the exam centre at least two hours before the exam starts and must sit in their respective seats according to their Roll No. Changing seats is prohibited.
Admit Card and ID Verification: Candidates are required to bring a hardcopy of the Admit Card downloaded and carry a photo ID proof which includes Aadhar Card, Passport, Voter ID, etc, to enter the examination hall.
Prohibited Items: Mobile phones, calculators, electronic gadgets, or any other prohibited items are not allowed inside the exam hall.
Documents to Carry: Candidates must take the Admit Card along with a duly filled Self Declaration form, a latest passport-size photograph, a valid photo ID and, in case of PwD candidates, a valid PwD certificate.
No Re-test or Exam Changes: There will not be an export allowed for any missed test/ exam; there shall not be a change on either the test centre or shift for whatever reason it may be.
Candidates who are appearing for the JEE Main 2026 exam are required to bring a printout of the Admit Card along with a Self Declaration form, which is available on NTA website. They also need to have with them one small photo, that is to be affixed to the Attendance Sheet, and must be the same as the photo that was uploaded for the application process. Further, the candidate must bring one photo identification proof, namely original, valid, and current, for example, Aadhar Card, Passport, Voter ID, PAN Card, or Driving License.
The relaxation under PwD/PwBD category shall also provide a valid certificate of PwD/PwBD. A transparent ballpoint pen should be taken for writing during the examination hall, meaning that no fancy pen should be taken. Before the test day, the candidates should recall that any prohibited item, including mobile phones, calculators or any electronic devices, is not permitted in the exam hall.

The National Testing Agency has announced the JEE Main 2026 Exam Centres on the official website. According to the JEE Main 2026 brochure, the JEE Mains 2026 exam will be held in 323 cities, including 15 cities abroad. Candidates are advised to report at the Examination Centre well in time, two hours before the commencement of the examination.
Upon entry, candidates must immediately take their allotted seats once the examination hall opens. Delays due to reasons like traffic jams, train or bus delays, or other unforeseen circumstances may result in missing important instructions announced before the exam starts. The NTA will not be held responsible for any delays in a candidate’s arrival at the examination centre, so early arrival is highly recommended to avoid any issues.
