The above table shows how the Top 100 All India Rank (AIR) chose while selecting a coaching institute for their JEE prep. Some of these students took help from one coaching or even multiple coaching; online or offline mode; four-years, three-years, two-years, one year or even few months course programmes.

Class Modules Offered By Coaching

Classes offered by JEE coaching institutes are in various modules, from offline to online to even hybrid mode. Students can take these classes right from Class 6 to Class 12 pass. The strength of the classes roughly falls between 20-50 students or 150-200 students depending upon the location and module of the batch.

Some coaching institutes even collaborate with schools to offer their students JEE and NEET coaching from Class 6 as well. This helps students to build a stronger base for such competitive exams. The classes help with tricks and shortcuts to calculations and provide strategies to ace school level exams as well as engineering and medical exams.

Coaching institutes also offer Mock Tests and Test Series to the students. On taking these tests, students can assess their level of preparation, conceptual understanding and identify their weak areas,” says RL Trikha, director FIITJEE Group. In turn faculty and trainers can enable students to overcome their weak concepts and give rough practice before they finally appear for the exam. According to Trikha, these tests are helpful in increasing speed and accuracy.

Parameters for Success Of Coaching

Success in JEE is measured by both quality and quantity of selections. As per Nitin Viijay, founder, Motion Education, “The success of any coaching depends 70 per cent on the student and only 30 per cent on the coaching institute.” He points out that those students who take offline classes are more likely to rank in the top 100 as they are in direct contact with teachers and the class environment which is competitive keeps them motivated.

However, Viijay is of the opinion that choosing multiple coaching may not be the right path to take. “Every institute has their own teaching method, this may lead to confusion, digression, loss of focus and eventually the inability to master a concept,” seconds Trikha. Multiple coaching options may also lead the student to waste time and energy.

Parameters Affecting Fees: JEE Advanced vs Main

Fees differ due to many parameters, it could be time duration, type of programme, mode of programme, mode of study material shared and many more. “Our institute offers a variety of scholarships for meritorious students as well as economically weaker sections students,” informs Trikha.

He adds that sometimes, coaching institutes prepare students simultaneously for JEE Main and JEE Advanced, and there is no difference in the fees for the two. While some coaching focuses on JEE Advanced first and also has a difference in fee structure. For instance, Motion Education has a difference of up to 35 per cent since the level of the JEE Advanced exam is higher and therefore requires extra effort from their faculty towards the students.

Faculty For JEE Coaching

A basic question that may come to mind is, how is the faculty at the coaching centre able to teach students concepts so effectively. Well, the answer lies in the fact that trainers at coaching centres undergo training themselves before they begin to teach young impressionable aspirants.

Coaching institutes have a rigorous training and testing process before hiring any faculty. Motion Education conducts regular training programmes for their faculty members to adopt and give a boost to their innovative teaching skills. However it is not all about training, a good faculty should be “able to engage with students in a way that they feel motivated to learn, focus on important topics and emphasize areas that have higher weightage in the exams,” explains Viijay.

Trikha explains that faculty at a coaching institute are a bit different than the school faculty as they are trained to follow unique researched teaching methodologies and transformational approach. According to him, the faculty acts as a bridge to fill the gap in between school-college learning, “a competitive exam like the JEE needs analytical skills to scale,” he says. Although Board and JEE are similar, JEE is an in depth conceptual mastery and application which needs developing analytical skills.

Viijay adds that often students can choose the faculty by watching their videos on different social media platforms or through friends and family references.

Location Of JEE Coaching Institute

According to Viijay, the location of the institute plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of the students. As much as skilled teachers are needed to provide quality education, the surrounding environment is equally important as it has a direct impact on the students’ mindset and attention span.

However, Trikha is of the view that students should choose a centre that is nearest to their residence “to save time of travel and energy.”

Nature of JEE Competition

Trikha is of the view that with new fields and new emerging technologies, seats and disciplines for engineering students at IITs will surely increase. “The JEE competition is set to get more and more fierce,” he says. Viijay adds that reforms, technology, diversification, preparation methods, policy and syllabus changes will make the exam more competitive and so will the coaching institutes play a major role.

As the competition becomes fierce, changes will happen, similarly the coaching institutes will have to make changes with the help of technology, focus and determination. Preparation methods, Concept clarity, its application and analytical skills will be the enablers. New online learning platforms and virtual classrooms will help students get personalised learning opportunities.

THANK YOU

Preparing for the JEE Main in just 30 days is a challenging but achievable task if you follow a highly disciplined and strategic approach. According to the Careers360 30-day study plan , the key is to shift your focus from learning everything to mastering high-weightage topics and practicing rigorously.

Phase 1: Week 1 & 2 – Focus on High-Weightage Chapters

During the first 15 days, prioritize topics that frequently appear in the exam.

  • Physics: Modern Physics, Heat & Thermodynamics, Optics, and Current Electricity.

  • Chemistry: GOC (General Organic Chemistry), Chemical Bonding, p-Block elements, and Solutions.

  • Maths: Matrices & Determinants, Sequences & Series, Coordinate Geometry, and Vector & 3D Geometry.

  • Study Strategy: Use NCERT for Chemistry and simplified notes for Physics/Maths. Spend 3-4 hours on each subject daily.

Phase 2: Week 3 – Revision and Formula Memorization

  • Short Notes: Go through the short notes you made during the first two weeks.

  • Flashcards: Use flashcards for inorganic chemistry reactions and physics formulas.

  • Mock Tests: Start giving one full-length mock test every alternate day. Analyze your mistakes immediately to avoid repeating them.

Phase 3: Final Week – Full Simulation and Relaxation

  • Previous Year Papers (PYQs): Solve the last 3-5 years of JEE Main papers in the actual exam time slot (9 AM–12 PM or 3 PM–6 PM) to sync your body clock.

  • No New Topics: Stop picking up new chapters. Focus solely on what you already know to build confidence.

  • Accuracy over Speed: Focus on getting the questions right rather than attempting all of them, as negative marking can significantly lower your percentile.

Hello

I think your question sounds like this: "Can a candidate who passed Class 12 in 2025 and filled JEE Main Session 1 apply for Session 2 as 'Appearing' in 2026 as a fresh board candidate, and will both sessions have the same details? "

So yes, you can fill the JEE Main Session 2 as "Appearing". The information filled in Session 1 will remain exactly as it was and will not change.
Session 1 and Session 2 are treated as separate applications. There is no issue if the qualifying status is different in both sessions. During counselling, the board marks that meet the 75 rule will be considered.

Hello,

If you filled the JEE Main January form with Class 12 passed in 2025 and are planning to appear again for the Class 12 exam through HOS, there is usually no serious issue. You were eligible to apply since you had already passed Class 12. Reappearing through HOS for improvement or requalification is allowed, provided HOS is a recognized board. During counselling, your latest valid Class 12 result will be considered. Make sure you meet the 75% marks or top 20 percentile requirement where applicable. If a correction window opens, update details if needed.

Hope this has solved your query. Thank You.
