By rigorously spending your time with the JEE Main syllabus, not only are you expanding your awareness of the content, but you are also likewise able to structure your approach towards any topics and classify them from a range of beginners to hard level hence making it easier to specify your goals per day for the desired topic.

The exam syllabus for both JEE Mains and JEE Advanced consists of 3 subjects - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (Class 11 and 12 Standards) and it is conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT). There are two phases for JEE Mains where candidates can appear for JEE Main Paper 1 for Engineering for a total of 300 marks where the syllabus is PCM and JEE Main Paper 2 is meant for Architecture with syllabus like Mathematics and Aptitude test and drawing test for 400 marks. A candidate can apply for either one or both phases.

Clearing this field further leads you to the next stage, which is the JEE Advanced stage. JEE advanced which is held annually is conducted once a year with two shifts of 3 hours each. One can also likewise approach free resources, PYQs, guided videos, or lecture plans from any coaching as it sets the standard and awareness of the time management one would require to cover every necessary content. However, once you source your materials, be sure to stick only to them and don't get a hold of too many materials that you can't cover up with restricted time.

Setting a Proper Routine to Ace the Paper

To compete, students start preparing a few years before they sit for their first paper. With proper self-awareness of the syllabus and resources, what one requires is consistency to prepare as early as possible. Preparing as early as Class X aids you to be exam-ready when it's time. It also helps you to appear on your Class 10 board better since you’re already prepared with the routine. With classes and coaching, a student's routine may vary from one person to another. You can set your study schedule by :

  • Setting your goals

  • Abstaining or restricting from social media

  • Pre-hand scheduling time for each topic a night before or setting a monthly chart for important topics

  • Sorting your study routine to your favour either as an early bird or a night owl

  • Revisiting topics you’ve covered on an alternative basis.

Once you've applied all the topics, you'll likely learn your weakness and your strengths and will be able to follow up a proper routine.

Self-help Book – A self therapist

Another important tip is to build up a strong mental focus. With classes ongoing and preparation for exams, many candidates spend their time away from socializing just so he/she can submerge into a proper study environment. Quick reads on a daily break for habit-building and self-discipline are necessary for one to be distressed at times, especially with the onset of exams.

The following books can be referred to for quick reads daily.

  • Atomic Habits by James Clear

  • The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

  • The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey

  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

  • 12 Rules For Life by Jordan Peterson

  • The 48 Laws Of Power by Robert Greene

Master your Doubts

With time, old ways of studying have become more irrelevant. One must be dynamic with many ongoing happenings, too. Such hardships require an easy-accessible pal to rely on, and that friend is no other than your internet. With the growth of free resources online, expansion of opportunities, and voices from different countries explaining a topic in thousands of variants, you are likely not alone in this journey. Befriending AI as a paraphrase finder can be of great help. With time, one can also start appearing for mock tests to self analyse one's potential or weak spots.

Reliable Buddies

This may seem like a bothersome approach, however, keeping in touch with your seniors or relatives who have already experienced and cleared the exam would be the quickest guide to learning from people with experiences. They are people who have already leaped a year or two before you, hence they can be the best guides for gaining insights on your doubts about the exam.

Thirst for Competition

Similar to the earlier point, one should learn to accept failures and competition from people you consider as your competition. It is better to keep them close, as having healthy competition gives a push to study during lazy hours.

Preparing for the JEE Main in just 30 days is a challenging but achievable task if you follow a highly disciplined and strategic approach. According to the Careers360 30-day study plan , the key is to shift your focus from learning everything to mastering high-weightage topics and practicing rigorously.

Phase 1: Week 1 & 2 – Focus on High-Weightage Chapters

During the first 15 days, prioritize topics that frequently appear in the exam.

  • Physics: Modern Physics, Heat & Thermodynamics, Optics, and Current Electricity.

  • Chemistry: GOC (General Organic Chemistry), Chemical Bonding, p-Block elements, and Solutions.

  • Maths: Matrices & Determinants, Sequences & Series, Coordinate Geometry, and Vector & 3D Geometry.

  • Study Strategy: Use NCERT for Chemistry and simplified notes for Physics/Maths. Spend 3-4 hours on each subject daily.

Phase 2: Week 3 – Revision and Formula Memorization

  • Short Notes: Go through the short notes you made during the first two weeks.

  • Flashcards: Use flashcards for inorganic chemistry reactions and physics formulas.

  • Mock Tests: Start giving one full-length mock test every alternate day. Analyze your mistakes immediately to avoid repeating them.

Phase 3: Final Week – Full Simulation and Relaxation

  • Previous Year Papers (PYQs): Solve the last 3-5 years of JEE Main papers in the actual exam time slot (9 AM–12 PM or 3 PM–6 PM) to sync your body clock.

  • No New Topics: Stop picking up new chapters. Focus solely on what you already know to build confidence.

  • Accuracy over Speed: Focus on getting the questions right rather than attempting all of them, as negative marking can significantly lower your percentile.
