Candidates must note that the NTA does not convert marks into percentile directly. The candidate's raw score is first calculated and then, using a formula, it is converted into a percentile within the particular exam shift. The percentile score for the specific shift is calculated using the given JEE Main normalisation formula.
Percentile Score=Number of candidates with raw score yours in that shift Total number of candidates who appeared in that shift100
First, the JEE Main raw mark is calculated by adding marks for each correct answer and negative marks for the incorrect answers as per the JEE Main marking scheme.
Next, the normalisation formula is applied to calculate the score in every shift.
Since different shifts have their own difficulty level, percentiles are compared across all the shifts.
The shift-wise percentiles are combined into the final NTA score, which determines eligibility and All India Rank.
Mentioned below are the major factors affecting the marks vs percentile trends for JEE.
