About: Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology (HICET), Coimbatore was established in 2000 by the great Industrialist and Philanthropist, Thiru.T.S.R.Khannaiyann of Hindusthan Educational Trust. HICET Coimbatore is recognised under Section 2(f) and 12B of University Grants Commission (UGC) and is an autonomous institution affiliated to Anna University, Chennai with a permanent affiliation for most of the programs, approved by the AICTE and the Government of India.

Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an ‘A’ grade and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

Q. Tell us about your domain and your work profile. At the professional level, did you pursue the same field you were interested or you switched?

Ans: I have been in the HR domain and I have been doing the fresher management and learning & development of the resources. Initially, I joined in Manual testing after my graduation but due to project ram down, I have been moved to HR functions. As I am more into people management than technical part I have pursued the HR domain.

Q. Can you briefly tell us about your career path so far?

Ans: After completing my graduation, I joined Cognizant Technology as a Programmer Trainee where I worked for Citi Bank client as a Manual tester for 18 months, Post that I moved to the HR domain as a Process Analyst in Learning and Development team where I was handling the training and course creation other general HR activities for 3 years, after that I have moved in Core HR as a Jr. Executive I have been handling the Recruitment and Fresher handling for 1.5 years, Post I have moved to HCL Technologies as Sr. Executive and working in Fresher Manager and Learning and Development lead for Deutsche Bank client for the past 3 years.

Q. Is the industry work different from what you learnt at HICET Coimbatore?

Ans: Yes, whatever we learn in college is just a key to entering the corporate world, post joining any company as fresher we need to undergo specific technical or process training according to the role we have been selected for we have to clear the exam, then we need to undergo project related training with that we will be working.

Q. How do you think your time in HICET Coimbatore has added professional and personal value to your life?

Ans: College life has groomed me from a girl to a women who can handle real-life struggles in the competitive world, also I learned that the habit of learning technical things helped me a lot in growing in the corporate world.

Q. What was your initial thought process when you joined HICET Coimbatore?

Ans: When I joined the college I thought it would be tough for me to handle multiple technical subjects, I thought that I would complete my degree and get a job like we get a seat in college, post joining the college I became aware of things how it's going to work in life.

Q. You must have spent a memorable time at HICET Coimbatore. Do you miss being a part of it? Share a few good memories.

Ans. Yes, I have been missing my college days. Many memories were good, the time we spent together with our friends in all the activities like cultural department functions and celebrations, spending an hour and hour aligning our project records, those days were simply great without any stress.

Q. Briefly take us through your life at HICET Coimbatore, the activities you used to do and your routine life.

Ans: Our routine is as simple as our timetable, and special times are our lab classes.

Q. Apart from academics, what were the other activities you were involved in and how did it enrich your life?

Ans: I was into sports so I got a lot of chances to play together with other computer science department students and had a good time while having the sports day functions and competitions.

Q. How did you keep updated with the industrial requirements and what was the role of HICET Coimbatore in it?

Ans: Industrial updates we have been getting newsletters from all the companies, the requirement will change according to the current market need, there is no specific institute as I am in Learning and Development and all the companies make sure that their employees will get trained in current technology as per their role, for example currently people are doing their Google Cloud and AWS training and certification more.

Q. You are a proud alumnus of HICET Coimbatore. What is the best part of HICET Coimbatore from a student’s perspective?

Ans: As a student, I have good lecturers where I have been guided in the right way.

Q. What is your suggestion/ guidance for the aspirants?

Ans: For the students who have been into college, They must properly complete their course with 70% along with the need to improve their communication and additional technical skills.
