IIT Roorkee Seat Matrix - JoSAA has released the IIT Roorkee seat matrix on the official website josaa.nic.in. The seat matrix of IIT Roorkee provides the course-wise and category-wise seats available at the institute. Candidates will be allotted seats based on their rank in JEE Advanced. There are a total of 1353 seats available for B.Tech programs. Candidates have to apply at JoSAA for IIT Roorkee admission.

JoSAA 2025

The admission to NITs, IIITs, GFITs and IITs is done by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) through JoSAA Counselling. IIT Roorkee aspirants have to register for JoSAA to be considered for admission. Registration for JoSAA 2025 can be done online. Candidates who qualify JEE Advanced will be eligible for admission at the institute.

If you are giving the re-exam for Mathematics and you pass it, you will become eligible for IIT admission , provided you meet all other criteria (such as minimum percentage or top 20 percentile in your board for your category). IITs require you to have passed Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in your 12th board exams.

However, you must submit your passing certificate and marksheet before the IIT admission deadline. If your re-exam results are declared and you pass before the document verification/counselling process ends, you can take admission in IIT. If your results come after the admission process is over, you will not be eligible for this year and may have to try again next year.

At an SC rank of 4276 in JEE Advanced , getting into older IITs (like Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kanpur) isn’t possible — even for less popular branches, these usually close below SC rank 2000–2500.

But you still have good chances in newer IITs and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad , especially for core branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical , and a few interdisciplinary programs.
