Ask your question related to JEE Main

Hello,

Based on your SC category rank of 7,400 in JEE Main 2025, it might be difficult to get Mechanical Engineering at IIEST Shibpur . Last year, the closing rank for SC candidates from other states in Mechanical Engineering was around 6,706.

However, you can still consider other good colleges where your rank may be sufficient. Institutes like NIT Agartala, NIT Meghalaya, or IIITs in newer locations often have higher closing ranks for SC category students. It's a good idea to check the previous year's cutoffs for these colleges to see where you might have a chance.

Also, keep an eye on the counselling rounds, as sometimes seats become available in later rounds.

You can use our JEE Main College Predictor tool to predict which colleges you can get based on your score.

Best of luck with your admissions!

Hello,

Yes, a B.Pharm student who is in the final year and yet to appear for the final semester exams can apply for NIPER JEE . But the student must make sure that the final result is available at the time of admission .

So yes, you can apply, but you will need to submit the proof of passing B.Pharm before admission.

Hope it helps !

Hello there,

With a JEE Mains rank around 3 lakh , it may be difficult to secure a seat in top-tier institutions like NITs, IIITs , or GFTIs . However, you can explore the following options:

  1. State Engineering Colleges :

    • Many state government colleges and private universities accept JEE Mains scores and might have a higher cutoff, allowing you to secure admission.

    • Some state-level counseling might have better chances.

  2. Private Engineering Colleges :

    • Private colleges that accept JEE Mains scores, like VIT Vellore , BITS Pilani , SRM , Manipal , and others, may provide admission at this rank.

    • Some of these colleges might have additional management quota seats.

  3. Deemed Universities :

    • Deemed universities such as Shiv Nadar University , Amity University , and others may also consider your rank for admission.

      Suggested Course of Action:

  • Apply through state counseling and private college applications .

  • Consider management quota seats in some private colleges if you can afford them.

  • Keep track of colleges with lower cutoff trends and their admission processes .

Hello there,

With a CRL rank of 1,53,000 and an EWS rank of 23,000 , it might be challenging to get a seat in CVR College of Engineering (CVRCE) for B.Tech through JEE Mains in the B Category (management quota) based on the typical cutoffs.

However, here are some considerations:

  1. B Category (Management Quota) : Generally, management quota seats may have a higher cutoff compared to regular seats, but they are still often more flexible.

  2. Specific Branch : You might have better chances in less competitive branches compared to high-demand ones like CSE or ECE . Branches like Mechanical , Civil , or Electrical might have slightly lower cutoffs.

    Recommended Steps:

  • Check Previous Cutoffs : Look at the last year's cutoff trends for the EWS category in CVR College of Engineering.

  • Direct Admission or Management Quota : You can inquire about direct admission or management quota options if you're considering alternatives.

  • Counseling and Choice Filling : During the counseling process, you can list CVRCE as one of your preferences to see if any seat becomes available.

It's best to contact the college directly or check their official admission guidelines for more precise information regarding your rank and the available options.

With a 79.7 percentile in JEE Mains under the GEN-EWS category and considering that you're from a home state, here’s what you might expect in terms of branch options:

1. Possible Branches:

State-Specific Colleges: Since you're from the home state, you have an advantage in state-specific institutes. You might be able to secure branches like:

Mechanical Engineering

Civil Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Computer Science and Engineering (if you're lucky)

National Institutes (e.g., NITs): Your chances in NITs are relatively lower for competitive branches like Computer Science or Electronics, but you may have a chance for branches like:

Civil Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Chemical Engineering

2. Suggestions:

Consider State Colleges: Look into your home state's engineering colleges, as you may have a higher chance of getting the branch you want through home-state quota.

Choice of Branch: If you're open to less competitive

branches, your chances improve.

With a CRL rank of 15,526 and EWS rank of 2,036 in JEE Mains 2025, getting Computer Science (CS) or Electronics & Communication (EC) in top 10 NITs will be tough. CS is highly competitive, especially in top NITs. However, you may have a slight chance in EC at some of the lower-ranked top 10 NITs in the later rounds. You can also look for CS/EC in newer NITs or go for branches like IT or Data Science. Use a college predictor to check chances.

Hello there,

Yes, with an OBC rank of 40,000 in JEE Mains , you can get admission in some NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs in lower-demand branches like Civil, Mechanical, or Metallurgy — especially in north-east NITs (like NIT Nagaland, NIT Mizoram) or through CSAB special rounds .

It may be tough for top branches like CSE or ECE, but if you're flexible with branch and location , you have good chances.

Hello there,

With a JEE Mains rank of 400,000 in the General category , your options for B.Tech in Civil Engineering might be limited in top-tier institutes, but you can still aim for the following types of colleges:

  1. Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) : These colleges often have lower cutoffs and offer decent infrastructure for civil engineering. Examples include:

    • BIT Mesra, Ranchi

    • MNIT Jaipur (for some special categories)

    • NIT Agartala

    • NIT Patna (sometimes through special rounds)

  2. State Government Colleges : Many state government colleges have a lower cutoff compared to NITs or IIITs. For example:

    • UPTU Colleges (in Uttar Pradesh)

    • Government Colleges in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana

  3. Private Engineering Colleges : Top private colleges often have their own entrance exams and may have seats available through JEE Mains. Examples:

    • VIT Vellore (VITEEE)

    • SRM University (SRMJEEE)

    • Manipal University (MU OET)

    • Shiv Nadar University (for various engineering branches)

Since your rank is higher, you may need to be flexible with the location or branch (if you don't get Civil Engineering). You can also look for management quota or direct admission if you're open to private colleges.

Hello there,

With a 77 percentile in JEE Mains 2025 and belonging to the ST category, you have a good chance of getting admission to various engineering colleges, especially in state-level or lower NITs. However, the exact colleges and branches depend on various factors such as:

  1. Your state domicile : Being from a particular state may improve your chances in state-level colleges and help you avail state reservation.

  2. Opening and closing ranks : These vary each year, so you can check the previous year's cutoffs to gauge your chances.

  3. Choice of branch : Some branches have a lower cutoff, so you may have better chances in branches like Civil, Chemical, or Electrical engineering as compared to Computer Science or Electronics.

Some options to consider:

  • State Government Engineering Colleges : Colleges like those under AP EAMCET, TS EAMCET, or other state-level exams.

  • NITs : Some NITs may have a higher closing rank for ST category, but with 77 percentile, you may get some NITs for branches like Civil or Mechanical.

  • Other Central Universities : Universities like Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), or other such institutions may also have good chances for you.

It is advised to go through the opening and closing ranks from previous years to predict where you might land. You can also apply to multiple colleges for better opportunities.

Hello there,

For your OCI son's IIT/NIT admissions based on JEE:

  • JEE Main: He's treated as General Category . Use standard JEE Main college predictors with his rank.

  • JEE Advanced:
    • OCI issued after March 4, 2021: Considered foreign national , applies directly to JEE Advanced for supernumerary seats (up to 10%). Prediction is harder due to limited cutoff data.

    • OCI issued before March 4, 2021: Generally treated as General Category , needs JEE Main rank. Use standard JEE Advanced college predictors.

  • No Category Reservations (except OPEN-PwD).
  • Use online JEE college predictor tools after results with his General Category rank.

Key: Check official JEE websites for the latest OCI rules. Prediction for the foreign national route in JEE Advanced is less precise.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, then feel free to share your questions with us, we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your bright future.
