JEE Main 2026 Topper Kabeer Chhillar Interview: AIR 1 Strategy, Preparation Tips, Study Plan

Q: Hello, Kabeer! A very hearty congratulations on your performance in the JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam. How did your family react?

Thank you so much. I called my family to tell them about the score soon after the result was out. They were pleasantly surprised.

Q: So Kabeer, tell us something about your family.

My family is originally from Gurgaon. My father, Mohit Chhillar, is an IITian and currently works in a private company. My mother, Priyanka Chhillar is a private teacher. I also have a younger brother who is in class 9th. Support from my parents has been crucial for JEE preparation.

Q: How was your performance in class 10th?

I passed 10th grade with 98 per cent marks.

Q: What do you think is the most important factor necessary to ace the exam?

Hard work in the right direction is the key to success. I strengthened my preparation through a regular study schedule, consistent revision, and mock tests.

Q. As you say, Mock tests are important. Why is that? How did you benefit from them?

Moch tests were very useful for me. I got a bit sad whenever I got fewer marks. This used to motivate me to work harder. Also, it is necessary to know our performance with respect to others. Mock test are also a great way for revising the topics.

Q: Did you take coaching for JEE? If yes, then how did it help you?

I have been a regular classroom student at Allen Career Institute for the past two years. The right guidance from the Allen faculty was crucial. Coming to Allen proved to be a turning point for me. After coming here, the concepts in the subjects became clear.

Q.Everyone has an idea that they must spend a considerable amount of time studying. What do you have to say about that?

I never had any fixed hours for studying. I used to complete the homework given to us, then rectify the mistakes made in tests. If I felt there was time left, then I used to practice a bit.

Q: How did you prepare for the JEE Main 2026 exam?

Instead of memorising, I focused on understanding the concepts in depth. I studied each topic by dividing it into small parts, prepared short notes and revised regularly. I also worked especially on time management and accuracy. Analysing my mistakes was very important for me. This helped me improve my performance after every test.

Q. A lot of students find Chemistry challenging. How did you tackle it?

I always tried to study Chemistry right after waking up, because our minds are sharper and more aware after some rest. I used to follow this approach specially for Inorganic Chemistry.

Q. What are the mistakes that one should avoid in Physics?

It is foremost to solve both easy and tough questions as soon as topic is read. You see, easy questions help one build the core concepts, and tough questions extend thinking to a new level.

Q: How did you deal with stress of staying away from home and preparing for the toughest exam?

It is important to have friends. I used to go out with them to bust the stress. It becomes a bit monotonous to keep studying all the time. So, keeping friends and spending some quality time with them is very relaxing. Also, I love playing football.

Q: What is your goal since you have achieved such a great score in JEE Main 2026?

I want to pursue Computer Science from IIT Mumbai and want to go to MIT.

Q. If you want to given any tips for future aspirants, what would you say?

I would advise not to maximize hours. I believe it is not a very self sufficient way to study for the exam. If you are feeling tires or sleepy, just sleep for 1 or 2 hours and then study. That's how I did it.
