Computer Science And Engineering: Jobs Data

How well do Computer Science Engineering students do across colleges? Careers360 analysed the placement performance of one batch of BTech CSE students who graduated from the top engineering colleges, as ranked by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2024. Data obtained through an RTI application shows that CSE departments across institutions routinely posted the highest – or close to the highest – placement rates in the 2023-24 placement season. The highest of 98 per cent of the registered CSE students secured a job at IIT Jodhpur. With 51.67% per cent, the lowest placement percentage was of IIT Bhilai.

Three top IITs - Delhi, Kanpur and Kharagpur did not share any information about the total students enrolled and so have been omitted from the list of analysis in the graph below. It is based on 2020-21 placement data.

BTech CSE Placement Rates

Just like the electrical department of top engineering colleges across India, the CSE department too had a placement better than the overall placement of each institute.

IIT Madras is the top engineering college as ranked in NIRF 2021, yet its CSE placement percentage was one of the lowest. The only ones to place all registered students were IIT Ropar and two NITs [Surathkal and Calicut].

Questions related to JEE Main

Have a question related to JEE Main ?

Preparing for the JEE Mains in 29 days requires a focused and strategic approach. You can take the following tops for preparation:

  1. Assess and prioritize by identify strengths and weaknesses, analyze your performance in previous mock tests and identify your strong and weak areas in each subject (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics). Prioritize and Focus more on High-Weightage topics, that is, on the chapters and concepts that carry more weightage in the JEE Mains syllabus. Divide your 29 days into manageable chunks, allocating specific time slots for each subject and topic, and make sure it's realistic and you don't over-exhaust yourself. Be focused and concentrated, if possible stay off social media.
  2. You should give a focused revision. Revise the NCERT textbooks thoroughly, especially for Chemistry. Create a concise formula sheet for each subject and revise it regularly. Solve as many PYQs as possible. This will help you understand the exam pattern, difficulty level, and common question types. Take at least one full-length mock test every 2-3 days. Analyze your performance, identify areas for improvement, and adjust your study plan accordingly.

Subject-Wise Strategy:

  • Physics:
  1. Focus on Concepts: Develop a strong conceptual understanding of fundamental principles.
  2. Practice Numerical Problems: Solve a variety of numerical problems to improve problem-solving skills.
  3. Visualization: Use diagrams and visualizations to understand complex concepts.
  • Chemistry:
  1. Memorization: Memorize important reactions, equations, and trends in the periodic table.
  2. NCERT Emphasis: Pay close attention to the NCERT textbook for inorganic and organic chemistry.
  3. Conceptual Clarity: Understand the underlying concepts in physical chemistry.
  • Mathematics:
  1. Practice, Practice, Practice: Solve numerous problems to improve speed and accuracy.
  2. Formula Derivation: Understand the derivation of important formulas to enhance conceptual understanding.
  3. Shortcut Methods: Learn and apply shortcut methods to solve problems quickly.

All the very best, you got this!

Hello,

To excel in JEE Mains 2025 (1st attempt), a structured mock test plan is crucial. Start with one mock test per week by January 2024, increasing to two tests weekly by July and three tests weekly from October. Simulate real exam conditions during tests, maintaining the same timing (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM).

Allocate equal time (3 hours) to each test. Identify weak areas, repetitive mistakes, and time-consuming topics. Revise these thoroughly and maintain an error log to track progress.

Begin with sectional tests for Physics, Chemistry, and Math. Transition to full-length syllabus-based tests by November 2024.

Manage your time to finish every section within 50-60 minutes. Immediately after every test, revise concepts, formulas, and short notes. This would ensure the enhancement of accuracy, speed, and confidence while answering questions for the exam.

Hello,

The syllabus of JEE Mains 2024 is based on the NCERT curriculum for classes 11 and 12, that is, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Physics:

  • Class 11: Units and Measurements, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Gravitation, Thermodynamics, Oscillations and Waves, etc.
  • Class 12: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current, Optics, Dual Nature of Radiation, and Electronic Devices.

Chemistry:

  • Physical Chemistry: States of Matter, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Surface Chemistry.
  • Inorganic Chemistry: Periodic Table, Chemical Bonding, Coordination Compounds.
  • Organic Chemistry: Hydrocarbons, Alcohols, Aldehydes, Carboxylic Acids, Polymers and Biomolecules.

Mathematics:

  • Class 11: Sets, Relations, Trigonometry, Calculus (Limits and Differentiation), Probability.
  • Class 12: Matrices, Determinants, Integral Calculus, Vector Algebra and Differential Equations.

Students should refer to NCERT books, practice numerical, and solve previous years' papers.

Hello Greetings

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MH Board) books can be a good starting point for JEE exam preparation, but they might not be sufficient on their own.

Here's why:

1. *Syllabus coverage*: MH Board books cover the state board syllabus, which may not be entirely aligned with the JEE syllabus.

2. *Depth and difficulty*: JEE requires a deeper understanding and more advanced problem-solving skills than what's typically covered in MH Board books.

To supplement your preparation, consider the following:

1. *NCERT books*: NCERT books are highly recommended for JEE preparation, as they cover the CBSE syllabus, which is more aligned with JEE.

2. *JEE-specific study materials*: Use study materials specifically designed for JEE, such as textbooks, online resources, and practice tests.

3. *Online coaching or tutorials*: Consider online coaching or tutorials to fill gaps in your understanding and gain extra practice.

Some recommended books for JEE preparation include:

1. *Physics*: HC Verma's "Concepts of Physics" or DC Pandey's "Physics for JEE"

2. *Chemistry*: NCERT Chemistry textbooks or OP Tandon's "Organic Chemistry"

3. *Mathematics*: RD Sharma's "Mathematics for JEE" or SL Loney's "Coordinate Geometry"

Have a great day

To open the sample papers, check the file format. If they're in PDF, you can use:

- Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download)

- Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser (with built-in PDF viewer)

- Mobile devices: download a PDF reader app like Adobe Acrobat or Foxit

If the files are in ZIP or RAR format, you'll need to:

- Extract the files using WinRAR, 7-Zip, or Unzip (free downloads)

- Open the extracted files with a PDF reader or browser

If you're still unsure, provide more details about the file format and the device you're using!
