Careers360: Tell us something about yourself such as from which place are you from?
Hi! I'm from Jaipur, Rajasthan – the Pink City! Growing up in a city so renowned for its heritage and culture, I yearned for a campus that combined learning and living. NIIT University, amidst the scenic Aravalli hills of Neemrana, is home for me.
Careers360: Presently which course are you pursuing and in which year are you?
I am a B.Tech Computer Science student in my third year now. I am interested in AI and Data Science, and so far, I have had a very good experience with live projects, industrial visits, and helpful faculty.
Careers360: Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?
At first, as any student would, I did miss home a little bit. But senior welcome, buddy programs, and student mentors helped me to adjust. Already, after a week, I felt like I belonged here. Campus life is very friendly and open.
Careers360: What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc for the various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?
Something for every student here! From coding clubs to music, dance, drama and photography clubs, NIIT University has plenty of student activities. I'm part of Codex (Tech Club) and NU Vision (Photography & Film Club)—it's maintained the balance between studies and creativity.
Careers360: Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?
A typical day starts at 8 AM with mess breakfast, 3–4 classes or lab sessions. The afternoon is dedicated to project work, club day or mentor-meet days. Open evenings—are either football, open mic night, or just hangs at the central stairway. Night time is occupied mostly with self-study or brain-storming over tea in common rooms or over Nescafe Point or Smoothie Point.
Careers360: Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.
Faculty-to-student ratio is approximately 1:16, which is fantastic. The faculty here are extremely approachable and helpful. We even have individual mentorship sessions. The best part is you are not a roll number—professors know your name and mentor you personally.
Careers360: What facilities do you have on campus? What do you like here the most that you feel is unique and differentiating?
The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, state-of-the-art labs, e-classrooms, 24x7 library, a sports complex, and a gym. But the very unique thing is the Industry Practice Program—1-year internship as a part of my studies. It makes us one step ahead in the corporate world.
Careers360: How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?
The hostels are very comfortable and safe. Each room has a balcony, and there is regular cleaning by sanitation personnel. We even have a laundry and vending machine service.
Careers360: What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?
Yes, they have a 24x7 medical centre within the campus with an attendant nurse and doctor. In case of an emergency, the university has local hospital associations and has also provided ambulance facilities. I have seen that they respond very rapidly if needed.
Careers360: How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?
Time management is the key. There isn't much room for buffer time in the university timetable, so I plan a week. The mentor system is also extremely helpful in dealing with study pressure. Furthermore, the peaceful environment around us does not allow us to get distracted.
Careers360: Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant are they from your point of view or students’ point of view.
NU clubs are not only to enjoy but here, you are shaped as a person. You are taught leadership, teamwork, and networking. I have conducted event management, hackathons, and even interacted with seniors and alumni. Every club has something to give.
Careers360: Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?
Yes, we have "Campus Connect" and "NU Times" in which students provide articles, event highlights, achievements, and interviews. It keeps the whole community informed and encouraged.
Careers360: What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?
Smoothie Corner, Nescafe Point, and the Listening Tree are the campus favourites among the students. Neemrana Bawdi is also a nice surprise place nearby.
Careers360: How do you spend your leisure time at the campus?
I enjoy going to music jam sessions, photo walks, or even simply reading at the library's corners. We organize night sky watching with friends occasionally as the skies here are so clear!
Careers360: Do you have any Facebook page on your campus where the students express their views, jokes or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their experience of life at campus?
Yes! We have very active Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn pages where the students update, memes, achievements, and event coverage. We also have an NU blog in which we upload our stories on campus as well as our experiences.
Careers360: What type of companies come for campus recruitment and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?
Top companies like PwC, IBM, HCL, and many other companies come for placements. The placement rate is 100 per cent since inception at NIIT University. The CIC supports us through resume building, mock interviews, and grooming sessions. I’m confident about placements thanks to the university’s industry-aligned curriculum.
