CUET is a national-level exam that is conducted for UG and PG programmes. Admission to the participating colleges is purely merit-based. Also, top government and private institutions accept CUET scores. One of the major reasons why CUET is important is that it is comparatively easier than the JEE Main exam. As JEE Main is one of the most competitive entrance exams for UG engineering programmes with a limited number of seats, aspirants can also choose to attempt the CUET exam. Moreover, students can aim for a wide variety of subject streams while applying through CUET.
Each participating college of CUET prescribes its specific eligibility criteria. Candidates can visit the official website to learn more. Here are the general conditions that a student must fulfil to gain admission to these colleges.
Qualifying examination- A minimum of aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for class 12 as stated by the respective university. The percentage of qualifying marks could be different for candidates belonging to reserved categories. Usually accepted PCM percentage is around 45 to 50 % for general category students.
CUET scores- CUET cutoff score varies for different institutes. It is determined for different subjects and categories as well. Aspirants must have scored higher than the CUET cutoff score to be eligible for admission. The authority prepares the CUET cutoff based on the type of course, the number of seats available and the total number of applicants per subject.
Age Limit- There is no age limit for taking the CUET UG exam. However, participating colleges usually determine an age limit for BTech admission through CUET. Therefore, students must contact their preferred college for more information.
