Aditya: Thank you! It was like a mix of excitement and relief all at once. After working hard for years without stopping, it felt amazing to finally reach this point.
Careers360: In which session of the JEE Mains exam have you attempted and what was your rank in the exam?
Aditya: I attempted both sessions of the JEE Mains exam and secured an All India Rank of 185.
Careers360: Why do you want to study engineering? When did you decide to study engineering? Which branch would you be interested in? Any reason?
Aditya: From an early stage in my schooling, I had a strong inclination towards science, especially Physics, which naturally steered me towards engineering. I aspire to study Computer Science at either IIT Bombay or IIT Delhi, as it closely aligns with my interests and career aspirations. I am particularly enthusiastic about exploring research in Quantum Physics and leveraging my skills to contribute to groundbreaking projects and advancements in the field. Currently, I am considering a career either as a researcher or a software engineer.
Careers360: Tell us something about your preparation strategy and daily routine for JEE advanced.
Aditya: My preparation strategy focused on time management, conceptual learning, consistent practice, and analyzing test results to identify areas for improvement. The faculty at FIITJEE played a crucial role in guiding me through this process.
In terms of my daily routine, I dedicated six hours each day to self-study, adjusting my schedule based on different factors. For example, on holidays, I extended my study time, while on school test days, I prioritized productive study sessions. To stay focused and maintain productivity, I took a five-minute break after every hour of studying.
Careers360: Did you take coaching for JEE advanced and if yes from where? What are the benefits of coaching according to you?
Aditya: Yes, I did take coaching for JEE Advanced. I started my preparation in Class XI, but I joined FIITJEE towards the end of Class VIII to build a strong foundation, which helped me grasp advanced concepts later on. In my view, coaching is immensely beneficial for performing better. Even if you’re intelligent and dedicated, the right guidance and mentorship are essential to excel in any competitive exam.
Careers360: Mock tests and sample papers – how extensively did you practise with the help of these? Do you think practising from the previous year’s papers helps and how?
Aditya: I extensively practiced with mock tests and sample papers during my preparation. At FIITJEE, I took numerous mock tests, which played a crucial role in helping me maintain my composure on the actual exam day.
Careers360: Which subject did you find the easiest during your preparation? What do you think is a tough thing to manage during the JEE advanced exam?
Aditya: I had a solid foundation in Mathematics and Science from an early age, which helped me quickly grasp advanced concepts. Participating in Olympiads and competitive exams further improved my problem-solving abilities and time management skills, giving me a good grasp of the subjects overall. However, Organic Chemistry was particularly challenging for me. To tackle this, I sought help from the FIITJEE faculty and practiced extensively. Their guidance, especially through regular doubt-clearing sessions, was invaluable.
Maintaining consistency in my studies was also challenging. To manage this, I set small, achievable goals and rewarded myself upon completion to stay motivated. For Organic Chemistry, repeated and regular revisions were crucial, and the continuous support from my FIITJEE teachers significantly helped in mastering the subject. During JEE Advanced preparation, the toughest aspects to manage are maintaining consistency, staying composed and calm, and effectively managing time.

Aditya: Several key factors contributed to my success in the JEE Advanced exam. I began my focused preparation in Class XI but joining FIITJEE towards the end of Class VIII helped build a solid foundation for grasping advanced concepts later. FIITJEE's regular tests and doubt-clearing sessions were crucial in analyzing my performance and optimizing my speed and accuracy, which significantly helped on the exam day.
Having a strong foundation in Mathematics and Science from an early age allowed me to understand advanced concepts quickly. Participating in Olympiads and competitive exams further enhanced my problem-solving abilities and time management skills. My dedication to doing my best, the guidance and support from my mentors at FIITJEE, and effective time management were pivotal. Additionally, my family's unwavering belief in me kept me motivated throughout the journey.
Careers360: How did you de-stress yourself during the preparation? What are your hobbies? How often could you pursue them?
Aditya: To stay focused and productive, I made sure to take a 5-minute break after every hour of studying. For de-stressing, I enjoyed going for walks in the park, which helped clear my mind. Additionally, I indulged in coding, a hobby that I find both relaxing and stimulating. I tried to pursue these activities regularly, balancing them with my study schedule to ensure I remained refreshed and motivated.
Careers360: Do you have any message or tips for future aspirants on tackling the JEE advanced exam?
Aditya: My message to future JEE Advanced aspirants is to always give your best and avoid unnecessary pressure. The right guidance is crucial, so seek help whenever needed. Regularly solving problems and taking mock tests will improve your speed and accuracy. Create a balanced study schedule that covers all subjects and stick to it. Stay motivated and don’t get discouraged by setbacks. Always remember to ask your teachers for guidance—they are invaluable resources. Focus on doing your best, and keep believing in yourself.
