Pay attention in class: The first rule of thumb that candidates have to follow unfailingly to succeed in JEE Main 2019 without coaching is to pay attention to lectures at school. By paying attention, the candidate not only creates a conducive learning environment for himself but also opens the doors to clear doubts by asking questions. It will be an added bonus if the candidate is also sharp in his analysis. Also, even when you are discussing a problem or concept with friends, keep an open mind. For you never know, they may sometimes have the simplest solution to the most daunting looking problem. If it happens, you will have one problem less!

Make self-study a mantra: At times we become so accustomed to hand-holding that we don’t even realize what we are too capable of creating our own history. Yes, don't rely on anyone. Make your own study plan which suits you the best and follows it religiously.

Before stepping into the ring, learn about your opponent: The syllabus and exam pattern of JEE Main 2019 provide useful insights into the exam that can be incorporated in the preparation strategy to make it more effective. For example, the JEE Main 2019 syllabus includes a number of additional topics not included in the syllabus of most Class 12 board and equivalent exams; that is not all as questioned asked in the exam are of more advanced nature and concept-oriented. Using these insights, you can draw up an actionable study plan that will help you crack JEE Main 2019 without coaching.

If Stuck Somewhere, Seek Help From Fellow Mates: You can’t afford to be shy to seek help with if you are in doubt. If you aren’t able to understand a concept or problem, approach the person who you think might be able to help you. The person can be a teacher, a relative or a friend. If the person is a teacher, approach him after class, discuss the problem with him. The point is you have to figure out the go-to persons early on in your preparation, and they have to be dependable. Yes, it is difficult to find such people, but no way impossible. All you need is the determination to learn, come what may.

Internet Is An Oyster of Information, Jump Into It: If you are afraid that you may be handicapped without coaching, you need to be only be reminded of the Internet, which has answers to all your questions and more. The only thing you need to do is learn how to use this mammoth information, Goliath. On the platform, you will practically find all concepts explained by foreign writers to our desi versions. Then there are also forums, where you can bond with like-minded people and get all the advice you need – books you need to buy for JEE Main preparation and why. What is more, you can download question banks and sample papers for JEE Main on the Internet, which have become such a crucial element of the preparation package, all for free.

Don’t Give Up Come What May: If you want to crack JEE Main without coaching, you must have one trait in great measure – perseverance. During your preparation, you may face many ups and downs, go through extended troughs, and the trick in such situations is to keep the spirit going and confidence up.

Don’t Skip Study: Regular study will ensure that you are never out of touch with your JEE Main 2019 preparation. This in turn will increase efficiency as you won’t have to brush up what you have read earlier. Another benefit of regular study is you will not lose your goal. Make it a point that at the end of the day, you take stock of the day’s progress and the pain points. The next time you sit to review your study plan, incorporate these points.

Prepare Notes While Studying: Notes have multiple benefits. For one, once you start making it a habit of taking notes, you will become more engaged in your studies. Second, with the passage of time your notes will become better, to a point that they can act as stand-alone books. This will make revision easier and fun, as you don’t have to read pages of texts to memorize or understand a few concepts, for example. Also, considering they are much lighter than most books, you can carry them along, and don’t have to miss out on your daily study or revision.

Solve Previous year's Sample/Question Papers: If you really want to crack JEE Main without coaching, you can’t afford to ignore this point. It is because it is by solving sample papers that you will be able to estimate how much you have read you are able to retain. Also, sample papers contain similar type of questions to the ones that are asked in the entrance exam. So, solving them is a great way to get oneself ready before the real thing, that is JEE Main 2019. If you get stuck when you are solving a problem, check where the problem lies and plug the gap. If you set a timer when you solve a sample paper, you may also develop your time management skills. Remember, the more sample papers you solve, the more confidence you carry to the exam hall. Also, considering you may have come across many tricky situations when solving the sample papers, if a similar type of tricky situation crops up at the exam hall, you are less likely to go on a panic mode.

Finally a word of caution,

Don’t Take Yourself or Exam Too Seriously: Nothing can puncture a student’s dream of cracking JEE Main without coaching than the weight of expectation. It is because once you start having lofty expectations, you start looking too far ahead and don’t stay in the present and do what is to be done. That is not all as over-thinking can lead to anxiety, which in turn can create a cycle of health issues – sleep disorders and others. To avoid such a fate, you must stay in the present and not get bogged down by expectations. Go for a jog in the morning, take timely breaks, eat healthy, go to bed on time, watch a light comedy and spend time with family. It will relax your nerves and you will feel much better.

Follow the tricks given here, and you should be able to crack JEE Main without coaching.

Best of luck!!

in jee main class 12 Marks details I have given chemistry Marks instead of computer science Marks though I got higher Marks in computer science .will it create any problem?

Aditya kumar Student Expert 22nd Oct, 2019
Hello there!

Greetings !

To calculate percentage in 12th board for filling jee mains application form you need to consider the marks scored in five subjects - (1) Physics, (2) Chemistry, (3) Mathematics, (4) A language and (5) Any subject other than the above four, is taken into account. So, it's good that you don't replaced chemistry marks by cs marks. Also, you don't need to worry at all, you will not face any problem as there's no percentage barrier to be eligible for jee mains. The criteria to be eligible for jee mains is that candidate should have passed class 12 or qualifying the exam in 2018 or 2019 or should be appearing in 2020 for it with Physics,Mathematics, and any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject).

The percentage barrier comes while taking admission in NIT,IIT and GFTI for which candidates should have obtained a minimum of 75% marks in class 12 or equivalent exam or they must be in the top 20 percentile in their class 12 examination. For SC/ ST, the eligibility is to obtain a minimum of 65% marks in class 12 or equivalent.

hi, will it be asked during placement if I am dropping two years for jee mains? i passed in 2018 12th, i am studying in a college 1st year in 2019, and if i give jee mains 2020, will it be considered two years drop? or one year drop? since im doing college as well as preparing.

Shudhanshu Gupta Student Expert 21st Oct, 2019
as you said that you did a partial drop and you had completed your class 12th in 2018 so if you will give JEE mains in 2020 then definitely there will be your two year drop considered, for that you will have to submit the reason for this drop when you will take admission in any college after selection, and if you give JEE mains in 2019 then your one year drop will be considered.
Best of luck.

Ashish pal Student Expert 21st Oct, 2019

Hello dear aspirant.

I think you will be well aware of the fact that from this year onwards there is slight change in JEE mains examination pattern. Scoring 90 percentile is not very tough still . You have to study regular and solve at least one practice paper daily and join test serieses to evaluate yourself.

It will surely help you.

Good luck

Aditi Amrendra Student Expert 21st Oct, 2019

If you have 6 subjects then the aggregate of Marks is done as English + Best of Four and English is compulsory.
But for JEE Main 2020 - Subject Combinations for Admissions
The subjects given below are compulsory for the candidates in order to get admissions through JEE Main 2020 into NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. The subject combination for each paper is given below:

B.Tech/B.E - Passed qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject.
B.Arch - Passed qualifying examination with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
