The objective of this article is to help students compare placements, cutoffs, salaries, and campuses and make informed decisions.
Securing admission in BITS Pilani is more difficult and it is becoming more competitive every year.

When we look at the data, it reveals how admission has changed over the last five years.
The Application Surge: The data shows that the number of candidates has grown by 41.5%, from 106,558 in 2021 to 150,730 in 2025.
Seat Matrix: In contrast to the candidates’ surge, there is a stagnant seat matrix, which grew by 10.6% (near flat), from 3,070 in 2021 to 3,396 in 2025.
Conversion Rate: While the data reflects high competition in all BITS campuses, where every hundred students are competing for three seats in 2021, the conversion rate shows the declining trend. In 2021, the conversion rate was 2.88 per cent which reached to 2.25 per cent in 2025.
| Year | Total Candidates | Total Seats Available | Selection Rate (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
2021 | 106,558 | 3,070 | 2.88% |

While getting into BITS today is significantly harder than it was five years ago, students should expect the BITS cutoff 2026 and competition to remain high. This year, in 2026, it is expected to be more competitive than 2025 and also BITS has already declared the scholarship for around the top 500 rankers.

Observation: The overall NIRF data on BITS Pilani placement indicates that most of the students who joined the institute seem to get placed despite the branches. Students who did not participate in the placement moved for higher studies. This shows practically 100 percent of the graduating batch's conversion into either corporate careers or education.
The following table highlights the BITS Pilani B.E. placement branch-wise based on the annual report data.
| B.E. Branch | Graduated | Employed | Unemployed | Not Reg. Deregistered | Placement % | Exact Placement Rate |

Total | 910 | 654 | 108 | 148 | 85.80% | 71.86% |
When we look at branch-wise placement for BITS Pilani B.E. programme, Computer Science has an 86.54 percent placement rate where 193 students were placed out of 223 graduated. 21 students opted out of placement. This means only 202 students registered for placement.
There are students who did not even register for the placement. This does not mean these students were unemployed. Many students go for higher studies, join family businesses, start startups, or get off-campus jobs. However, students should always look beyond headline placement percentages and focus on recruiter quality, median salary, branch demand, and career opportunities.

If placements get attention, salaries get clicks. Here is what the numbers from the annual report show.
For 2024-25, the median salary stood at Rs 19.4 LPA, with 14% year-over-year growth. The average salary was Rs 22 LPA across all branches. The placement drive for 2024-25 recorded more than 500 active recruiters and over 80 per cent students placed during the ongoing placement season.
Average salary can be influenced by a few very high packages but the Median salary tells you what a typical student receives. That is why the Rs 19.4 LPA median salary figure is more useful than the average salary figure. BITS continues to maintain one of the strongest salary outcomes among non-IIT engineering colleges in India.
Many students assume BITS is only strong for software jobs. The data says otherwise.
The placement drive at Pilani campus for the 2024-25 academic year shows strong participation from top-tier global companies:

Data Gap: BITS Hyderabad campus did not mention how many students actually graduated.
The BITS Hyderabad campus placement data shows how close it is to Pilani campus.
The question arises here: Is BITS Pilani Hyderabad underrated? Most students think of Pilani >> Hyderabad. The actual placement data suggests Pilani > Hyderabad. But not by a massive margin. For example:
The Computer Science placement rate at Pilani is 95.6 per cent and Hyderabad is 94.7 per cent. The Electronics & Communication placement rate at Pilani is 88.3 per cent and Hyderabad is 88.9 per cent. The Chemical Engineering placement rate at Pilani is 77.2 per cent, and BITS Pilani Hyderabad is 78.3 per cent. The differences are much smaller than most students expect.
If you miss Pilani by 20–30 marks, Hyderabad is often a smarter choice than sacrificing branch quality.
At the BITS Pilani KK Birla Goa Campus, 848 students registered for placements, where 93 per cent were placed. During the placement drive 289 companies visited and made 794 offers.

Getting into BITS Pilani and other campuses requires candidates to qualify for BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test).
The Goa campus offers a combination of strong placements, lower cutoffs than Pilani, excellent campus life, and strong recruiter participation. This makes it one of the most preferred campuses after Pilani.
If you think of which campus is best between Goa and Hyderabad, as this question appears every year.
Choose Goa If:
Choose Hyderabad If:
Reality Check: The cutoff gap between Goa and Hyderabad is slightly lesser than most students think. Both campuses offer excellent opportunities.

This is the most important comparison for students who narrowly missed the BITS Pilani cutoff and are deciding whether BITS Hyderabad is a worthy alternative.
So, by comparing the placement rate and the median salary of BITS Pilani and Hyderabad campuses, there is a much smaller gap between these both campuses. In terms of median salary, the difference is around 9 per cent and the difference between placement rate is 2.8%.
The alumni details help you build networks and develop your entire career. Strong alumni networks create better referrals, better internships, better startup opportunities, better mentorship, and stronger professional networks. The following table highlights the alumni overview of BITS Pilani:

This quality of the alumni base makes BITS outperforms many institutions. This advantage continues long after placements are over.
Step 1: Choose a branch before campus
Step 2: Understand placement outcomes
Step 3: Compare cutoffs
Step 4: Evaluate ROI
Step 5: Then consider campus prestige
Students often choose the lower-demand branch over the campus without comparing actual career outcomes.
After analysing admission trends, BITS Pilani placements, recruiters, cutoffs and alumni outcomes, the answer is yes. BITS remains one of the top choices of engineering aspirants in India outside the IIT system.
This analysis is crucial to help students understand and decide which branch they can choose at which campus. Each campus has its own preferences and advantages.
So, students should focus on career goals, branch outcomes, and placements. A strong branch at Hyderabad or Goa can often create better career outcomes than a lower-demand branch at Pilani.
On Question asked by student community
Hello Dear Student,
Between Manipal Institute of Technology Bengaluru and Vellore Institute of Technology for CSE Core , VIT Vellore generally has the stronger overall reputation, larger recruiter pool, and more established placement ecosystem.
However, the choice changes depending on the fee category:
Hello dear student,
To gain admission to BITS Pilani, diploma holders must appear for the BITSAT examination and satisfy the institute's eligibility requirements. A diploma alone is not sufficient for admission.
• Admission to BITS Pilani is primarily through BITSAT, the institute's entrance examination.
• Candidates must have completed Class
Hi,
With a BITSAT score of 188, getting an Integrated M.Sc program at BITS Pilani main campus may be difficult this year. However, you can still have some chances in:
• BITS Hyderabad – M.Sc Biological Sciences/Chemistry (borderline)
• BITS Goa – difficult but possible only if cutoffs drop slightly.
Hi,
With 86.511 percentile, OBC-NCL category, and Army ward quota, you should definitely participate in JoSAA and CSAB counselling because you can still get decent ECE/EEE options in lower NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Army ward quota can also help in some institutes.
For ECE/EEE, you can target:
• NIT Srinagar
Hi,
With a BITSAT Session 1 score of 202 and applying for B.Pharm, you actually have pretty decent chances, especially at BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus and possibly even Pilani campus depending on final cutoffs.
Recent B.Pharm cutoffs have generally stayed much lower than engineering branches, often around 150–175 marks in
