From 2026, JEE Main will not allow calculators in the exam. This means students will have to do all the calculations by hand, either mentally or on paper. Both physical and virtual (on-screen) calculators are banned.
This rule will affect both speed and accuracy. Without a calculator, students may take more time to solve long numerical questions or problems that need many steps. Mistakes in addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division may happen more often if one is not used to manual work. But at the same time, regular practice can make students faster and more confident with numbers. Manual calculation also improves understanding of formulas and concepts.
For speed, students who depend on calculators may find it harder to complete all questions in time. They will need to practice mental math, quick simplification, and use of tricks like estimation and remembering standard values such as squares, cubes, and trigonometric ratios. Over time, this practice can make them nearly as fast as before, but it needs effort.
For accuracy, students must be careful while doing rough work. One small calculation mistake can give the wrong final answer. So it is better to stay calm and double-check important steps. Accuracy is more important than rushing through.
Overall, the ban on calculators will make JEE Main more about logic, manual accuracy, and time management. Since this rule is for everyone, it will not make the exam unfair. The students who practice manual calculations more will have an advantage.

Hi,
If your school board has given you a roll number then enter that number in the JEE form and if the board hasn't issued the number you can leave the registration number column blank.

Hello,
If you mistakenly choose the CBSE-I instead of the CBSE in the JEE Main form, don't worry. You can still correct it during the NTA correction window. Then you can just log in to your JEE Main application, edit the board names to CBSE, and save the changes.
I hope it will clear your query!!
Hello
Yes, you can fill the JEE Main form even if your father’s name is different on the Aadhaar and 10th marksheet.
Use the name exactly as it appears on your 10th marksheet, since that’s considered official for exams.
Aadhaar is mainly used for identity verification, so a small mismatch won’t cause issues.
Keep the Aadhaar update slip or request number as proof that the correction is in process.
If NTA opens a correction window later, you can update the details then.
Make sure spellings are accurate and consistent across all other details.
Hello,
Sorry, but it's unlikely you will get into NIT Rourkela Computer Science with a 99 percentile and OBC-NCL status under the Home State quota, as the closing rank of this category is very competitive and often falls within the top 8,000 ranks.
I hope it will clear your query!!
Hello,
Don't worry; you will not face any major problem due to this. Because during the JEE document verification or college admission, you may be asked to provide an affidavit or ID proof to confirm that both names refer to the same person. Just carry the supporting document to avoid issues.
I hope it will clear your query!!
