Both NIT Jalandhar and IIIT Gwalior are great institutions, but their programs and approach differ. Here's a comparison:
Choose IIIT Gwalior if you're sure about a long academic path and want deep technical knowledge. Go for NIT Jalandhar if you prefer a more flexible 4-year course with early job opportunities.
Hope this helps you decide!
Hi Vedansh!
Thank you for reaching out!
Here’s a clear comparison to help you choose:
If you're interested in Data Analytics, AI/ML, and want that early exposure, PEC's specialized program is better. But if you prefer core CS with flexibility, NIT Jalandhar has a stronger national brand. Both are excellent choose based on your career interests.
All the best!
Hello!
So based on your rank 5000 in JEE Mains and you are from Punjab you have some chances of getting NITJ branches like mechanical civil, chemical or biotechnology but in the later rounds as SC category seats also closed early.
As your SC rank is around 5000 your CRL can be anywhere between 1,20,000 to 1,60,000, depending on your marks.
If you value strong placements, modern learning, and global exposure, LPU’s CSE is a far better option. LPU consistently delivers average packages of 5–6LPA, with top salaries going up to 54LPA and frequent recruiting by tech giants. The university offers flexible payment options and scholarships, even for students with financial constraints, which vastly increases affordability. LPU’s industry connections, international tie-ups, vibrant campus, and hands-on tech projects give you a superior advantage for your future career, making it worth considering over government colleges if you can manage a scholarship or fee concession.
With a CRL rank of two hundred twenty-seven thousand and an SC category rank of fifteen thousand, your chances of getting Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at NIT Jalandhar may be challenging. NIT Jalandhar is a popular institute, and CSE typically has higher cutoffs.
However, having home state quota can improve your chances slightly. Here are some considerations:
Check Previous Year Cutoffs : Look at the previous year's opening and closing ranks for SC category students in CSE at NIT Jalandhar.
Counseling Process : Participate in the JoSAA counseling process, as it can provide better clarity on your chances.
Alternative Branches : If CSE is not available, consider other branches of engineering that may have lower cutoffs.
Dear aspirant !!
Hope you are doing well !
With a 70.7 percentile in JEE Mains and being from the general category (Punjab) as the only girl child, your chances of getting into NIT Jalandhar or NIT Hamirpur will depend on various factors such as:
Category-wise Cutoff : The closing rank for general category candidates at these NITs can vary each year based on several factors such as the number of candidates, difficulty level of the exam, and seat availability. The percentile you have is relatively on the lower side, so the opening and closing ranks of the previous years will give you an idea of whether it's possible.
Gender-based Relaxation : Some NITs provide slight relaxation in cutoff for female candidates, which might increase your chances slightly.
Home State Quota : Being from Punjab, you would fall under the home state quota for NIT Jalandhar. Home state quota typically has a lower cutoff compared to the All India quota, so this could work in your favour
You should check the opening and closing ranks for the past few years on the official JOSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) website or other platforms that publish detailed information about the cutoff trends. It's also advisable to stay updated on the counseling process to understand if there is any possibility of getting a seat through other categories like the home state quota or female quota.

For NIT Jalandhar, your admission will be based on your OBC-NCL rank (45,000) if you are applying under the OBC category.
If you apply under the General category, they consider your CRL (114,000).
If you apply under the OBC-NCL category, they consider your OBC rank (45,000).
Each NIT has separate category-wise cutoffs, so your OBC rank matters for OBC seat allocation.
Based on previous cutoffs, a 45,000 OBC rank is on the higher side, and getting into core branches like CSE, ECE, or Mechanical might be difficult

Deciding Between Options :
Hello,
Both NIT Hamirpur and NIT Jalandhar are reputable, but for CSE, consider NIT Jalandhar due to its better placement records and industry connections. It often has a slightly higher ranking and more robust campus infrastructure. However, personal preferences regarding location, campus culture, and specific faculty expertise should also influence your decision. Always review the latest placement statistics and campus facilities before finalizing.
Hope this helps you ,
Thank you
