QnA related to NIT Jalandhar

Ask your question related to NIT Jalandhar

Both NIT Jalandhar and IIIT Gwalior are great institutions, but their programs and approach differ. Here's a comparison:

  • NIT Jalandhar CSE offers a 4-year B.Tech in Computer Science it's known for strong coding culture and placement records with flexibility to pursue M.Tech or job after B.Tech and high average package for CSE .
  • On the other hand IIIT Gwalior Integrated B.Tech + M.Tech in IT a  5-year integrated course , saves 1 year if you were planning for M.Tech anyway ,has a strong research and technical base with excellent for students looking into R&D or higher studies.

Choose IIIT Gwalior if you're sure about a long academic path and want deep technical knowledge. Go for NIT Jalandhar if you prefer a more flexible 4-year course with early job opportunities.

Hope this helps you decide!

Hi Vedansh!

Thank you for reaching out!

Here’s a clear comparison to help you choose:

  • NIT Jalandhar CSE is well-established national institute with NIT tag, excellent placements in software and core CS, has strong peer group, coding culture, and hackathons.
  • PEC Chandigarh (CSE + Data Science) has a great reputation, especially in North India with Data Science specialization is highly in-demand, and good industry collaborations in Chandigarh tech sector.

If you're interested in Data Analytics, AI/ML, and want that early exposure, PEC's specialized program is better. But if you prefer core CS with flexibility, NIT Jalandhar has a stronger national brand. Both are excellent choose based on your career interests.

All the best!

Hello!

So based on your rank 5000 in JEE Mains and you are from Punjab you have some chances of getting NITJ  branches like mechanical civil, chemical or biotechnology but in the later rounds as SC category seats also closed early.

As  your SC rank is around 5000 your CRL can be anywhere between 1,20,000 to 1,60,000, depending on your marks.

If you value strong placements, modern learning, and global exposure, LPU’s CSE is a far better option. LPU consistently delivers average packages of 5–6LPA, with top salaries going up to 54LPA and frequent recruiting by tech giants. The university offers flexible payment options and scholarships, even for students with financial constraints, which vastly increases affordability. LPU’s industry connections, international tie-ups, vibrant campus, and hands-on tech projects give you a superior advantage for your future career, making it worth considering over government colleges if you can manage a scholarship or fee concession.

With a CRL rank of two hundred twenty-seven thousand and an SC category rank of fifteen thousand, your chances of getting Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at NIT Jalandhar may be challenging. NIT Jalandhar is a popular institute, and CSE typically has higher cutoffs.

However, having home state quota can improve your chances slightly. Here are some considerations:

  1. Check Previous Year Cutoffs : Look at the previous year's opening and closing ranks for SC category students in CSE at NIT Jalandhar.

  2. Counseling Process : Participate in the JoSAA counseling process, as it can provide better clarity on your chances.

  3. Alternative Branches : If CSE is not available, consider other branches of engineering that may have lower cutoffs.

Dear aspirant !!

Hope you are doing well !

With a 70.7 percentile in JEE Mains and being from the general category (Punjab) as the only girl child, your chances of getting into NIT Jalandhar or NIT Hamirpur will depend on various factors such as:

  1. Category-wise Cutoff : The closing rank for general category candidates at these NITs can vary each year based on several factors such as the number of candidates, difficulty level of the exam, and seat availability. The percentile you have is relatively on the lower side, so the opening and closing ranks of the previous years will give you an idea of whether it's possible.

  2. Gender-based Relaxation : Some NITs provide slight relaxation in cutoff for female candidates, which might increase your chances slightly.

  3. Home State Quota : Being from Punjab, you would fall under the home state quota for NIT Jalandhar. Home state quota typically has a lower cutoff compared to the All India quota, so this could work in your favour

  • NIT Jalandhar : Based on the last few years' trends, the closing rank for general category female candidates from Punjab has been higher than your percentile. However, being a female candidate could give you some advantage.
  • NIT Hamirpur : Similar trends apply, though the cutoffs here might be slightly different. You may have a better chance in the home state quota.

You should check the opening and closing ranks for the past few years on the official JOSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) website or other platforms that publish detailed information about the cutoff trends. It's also advisable to stay updated on the counseling process to understand if there is any possibility of getting a seat through other categories like the home state quota or female quota.

Hope it will be helpful !!

Thanks

For NIT Jalandhar, your admission will be based on your OBC-NCL rank (45,000) if you are applying under the OBC category.

If you apply under the General category, they consider your CRL (114,000).

If you apply under the OBC-NCL category, they consider your OBC rank (45,000).

Each NIT has separate category-wise cutoffs, so your OBC rank matters for OBC seat allocation.

Based on previous cutoffs, a 45,000 OBC rank is on the higher side, and getting into core branches like CSE, ECE, or Mechanical might be difficult

Hello aspirant,

More than fifty courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and other levels are available at NIT Jalandhar. Depending on the course, admission at NIT Jalandhar is determined by entrance exams, merit, or a mix of the two. For a variety of disciplines, the university accepts marks from entrance tests such as JEE Main, GATE, and CAT.

Hy,

If you have secured a place in NIT Jalandhar for Data Science with a CRL rank of 112300 and an SC category rank of 4676, and you're considering participating in the CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) counseling process, here's what you need to know:

CSAB Counseling and Rank Considerations

  1. Rank Utilization :

    • CRL (Common Rank List) : This rank is generally used for all candidates and is the overall rank that includes all categories.
    • Category Rank : Your SC category rank is specifically for candidates within the SC category and can be beneficial for securing seats reserved for SC candidates.
  2. CSAB Counseling Process :

    • In CSAB, you will generally use your category rank (in your case, the SC rank of 4676) for seat allocation in courses that have reserved seats for SC candidates. This means that your chances of getting a preferred branch (like ECE at MANIT Bhopal) may be better if you use your category rank rather than your CRL.
    • However, it’s crucial to check the specific guidelines provided for CSAB, as they can vary each year.
  3. Deciding Between Options :

    • If you are interested in ECE at MANIT Bhopal, check the previous year’s closing ranks for that branch. If your SC rank falls within or close to the previous year's cutoffs, you have a chance.
    • On the other hand, if you choose to stay at NIT Jalandhar for Data Science, consider the program's potential and your career goals.

Next Steps:

  • Research Previous Year’s Data : Look up the last year’s closing ranks for both NIT Jalandhar and MANIT Bhopal for Data Science and ECE respectively. This will give you an idea of where you might stand in the upcoming counseling.
  • Participate in CSAB : Ensure you register for CSAB counseling if you wish to explore more options based on your category rank.

Hello,

Both NIT Hamirpur and NIT Jalandhar are reputable, but for CSE, consider NIT Jalandhar due to its better placement records and industry connections. It often has a slightly higher ranking and more robust campus infrastructure. However, personal preferences regarding location, campus culture, and specific faculty expertise should also influence your decision. Always review the latest placement statistics and campus facilities before finalizing.

Hope this helps you ,

Thank you
