Marking Scheme of JEE Main 2019

The NTA follows marking scheme as mandated and informed in the official brochure. The marking scheme of JEE Main 2019 is given below

  • For every correct answer 4 marks will be awarded

  • For every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted

Total Mark = (Total No. of correct answers x 4) - (Total No. of Incorrect answers x 1)
Students can calculate their mark using the above mentioned formula from the answer key. It will help them in estimating their chances of which college they might get for admission.

JEE Main Percentile Score

The percentile score indicates the percentage of candidates that have scored equal to or below that particular percentile in that examination. Therefore the topper (highest score) of each session will get the same Percentile of 100 which is desirable. The marks obtained in between the highest and lowest scores are also converted to appropriate percentiles. The percentile mark scored by candidate is converted into a scale of 0-100 for each session of exam. The percentile scores will be used for the preparation of merit list in further stages of admission.

NTA JEE Main Score

The National Testing Agency has released the result of candidates in the form of a NTA score. The NTA score of a candidate is calculated on the basis of candidate’s relative performance to all the candidates appeared in any shift. The NTA score is not average score of candidate nor is the average mark of candidate. NTA score is calculated with the help of a specific formula used by NTA.

Method of Resolving Ties

The overall merit of candidates will be based on the percentile scores of the total raw scores. In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal percentile scores in the test, the inter-se merit of such candidates will be determined in order of preference as follows

  • Student obtaining higher percentile score in Mathematics in the test

  • Student obtaining higher percentile score in Physics in the test

  • Student obtaining higher percentile score in Chemistry in the test

  • Student older in age will be given preference

Should we prepare for JEE from class 10

Naveen Meena Student Expert 18th Nov, 2019

Dear Vedan, this depends on your interest. If you are clear with your goal and aim then you can start preparing as early as possible. Many students start the preparation from class 9th  only. Preparing for JEE in class 10th will definitely give an egde over others as more than 80%(estimate) students start their preparation in 11th. But you should be really confident over your decision.

All the best

Hope this helps

By what time should I complete my Jee Mains and Advanced syllabus so that I get enough time for revision to get a 3-digit rank ??

Sonali Sahu Student Expert 18th Nov, 2019

Hello,

To get a 3 digit rank you have to practice alot and become expertise such that if any question is given to you,you can solve it within a limited time. if you want it then you have to score more than 95% of total marks. There is no revision. You have to read everything in a week and read it again in another week completely. In this way you have to cover the whole syllabus more than 10 times with full clarity and able to solve all the numericals accurately.

a month before exam try to give mock tests online so that you can know how you perform in a competitive environment. This way you will be able to make your weakness into strength.

Hope it helps!
