Q. How to apply for JEE Main 2018?
Ans: The application form of JEE Main 2018 will be available online for all aspirants. It should be noted that no other mode of application will be accepted by the admission authorities. The candidates will have to submit the application form before the final date otherwise they will not be registered for the exam. Aadhaar Card number has become mandatory to fill in the application form. The following six steps can be followed by the candidates to fill JEE Main application form:

Q. What documents do you need to apply for JEE Main 2018?
Ans: Before filling the JEE Main 2018 application form, all candidates are requested to keep scanned images of their photograph, signature of the candidate and parent ready. Since these documents have to be uploaded in the application form, the specifications released by the official authorities have to be met.
Photograph – The size of the file should be between 4 KB to 40 KB, dimensions should be 3.4 cm x 4.5 cm and file format has to be JPEG.
Signature of the Candidate and Parent – The scanned images should be between 1 KB to 30 KB and should be in JPEG format. The dimensions of the images should be 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm.
Along with these scanned images, the candidates are advised to keep their academic documents ready with them while filling the application form for reference purposes.
Q. If I don't have Aadhaar card, will I not be allowed to apply for JEE Main 2018? What to do?
Ans: If you do not have an Aadhaar Card then you will not be able to apply for JEE Main 2018. If you do not have an Aadhaar card then it is in the best interest to apply for one as soon as possible.
Q. There is a difference in name and details in my class 10 certificate and Aadhaar Card. Will I face any problem? What should I do?
Ans: Candidates will have to submit a correction request at an Aadhaar centre and apply for JEE Main 2018 using the 14 digit Aadhaar enrollment ID/UR No. Otherwise, the candidates can also fill the application form with their old Aadhaar details and then submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre. The updated details may be corrected later.
Q. How do candidates of Assam/J&K/Meghalaya who have no Aadhaar Card apply for JEE Main 2018?
Ans: Such candidates need to enter the passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Government identity number.
Q. Can candidates from Assam/J&K/Meghalaya with Aadhaar card choose an exam centre outside their home state?
Ans: Yes, such candidates can choose any exam centre across India.
Q. How can candidates outside India (PIO/OCI/NRI) apply for JEE Main 2018 without Aadhaar?
Ans: Candidates outside India may apply using their Passport details.
Q. What is the JEE Main application fee?
Ans: JEE Main 2018 application fee will be according to the category and gender of the candidate along with his/her choice of examination mode. The payment has to be done in online (credit card/debit card) or offline mode (e-challan). The fee will be displayed while the candidate is filling the application form.
Q. If I have made mistakes in my application form, can I fill another one or correct the mistakes the form?
Ans: Candidates can submit only one application. The correction facility will be opened by the authorities after the submission process is over.
Q. Should I send the JEE Main 2018 application form & any documents to the authorities?
Ans: No. No documents need to be sent separately to the authorities.
Q. If I am a private candidate, or have done my 10+2 from NIOS, what should I put in my school details?
Ans: The marks secured in 10+2 from NIOS has to be submitted by the candidates while filling the online application form. Along with the marks, the year of passing, name of school board, type of institution, name of school/institute of the candidate for 10th and 12th standard also has to be submitted.

Ans: If forgotten, the candidates need to reset their password as follows:

Q. How many exam centres should we choose?
Ans: Candidates will have to select 4 exam centres according to their preference.
Q. Is it mandatory to choose exam centres from the same state or we can choose from other states?
Ans: Candidates can select their preferred JEE Main 2018 exam centres from any state.
Q. Do we need to carry any identification proof during the exam?
Ans: No. Only the admit card of JEE Main 2018 has to be produced. However, candidates will have to produce some documents according to their eligibility category:
Candidates who have qualified 12th standard examination in 2016 or 2017 but have not opted for improvement in 2018 will have to present their copy of 12th standard mark sheet.
Those candidates who have passed 12th standard exam in 2016 or 2017 but have opted for improvement in all subjects will have to submit a copy of their admit card for the improvement examination of 2018.
Candidates who will be appearing for 12th standard examination in 2018 will have to submit a copy of their admit card for the mentioned exam.
Q. Where can I ask for help in filling JEE Main 2018 application form?
Ans: The guidelines to fill the application form of JEE Main 2018 will be released by the CBSE official authorities. The candidates can refer to the guidelines to register themselves for the examination.
Q. I have uploaded the wrong photograph in the application form. How can I correct it?
Ans: CBSE has provided "Remove discrepancy in uploaded images" option for the candidates who have uploaded the wrong image. This option will be enabled for those candidates who will receive any message regarding the discrepancy in images on their registered mobile number. In case, if a candidate has not received any message from CBSE regarding the photo correction and still he/she wants to make changes in the image uploaded in JEE Main application from 2018, mentioned below steps to be followed:
- Write a mail to CBSE board with subject line ‘Photo correction in JEE Main 2018 application form’
- Send JEE Main 2018 application number along with detailed description of a photograph to be uploaded again.

Q. I have uploaded my photograph without the name and date. Will I be able to give the exam?
Ans: If a candidate misses uploading a photograph that does not carry name and date, he/she need not worry. The examination authorities will not reject the application form nor it will require any correction and the candidate will be issued admit card for appearing in JEE Main 2018.
