JEE Main Application Process/ Admit Card FAQs 2019


Q. How to apply for JEE Main 2019?

Ans: The application form of JEE Main 2019 was released on September 1 online for all aspirants for the January session. The deadline to submit the filled application form was September 30. It should be noted that no other mode of application will be accepted by the admission authorities. The candidates had to submit the application form before the final date otherwise they would not be registered for the exam. The last date of payment of application fee and uploading of photograph and signature for the January session was October 1st. The following steps can be followed by the candidates to fill JEE Main application form:

Q. What documents do you need to apply for JEE Main 2019?

Ans: Before filling the JEE Main 2019 application form, all candidates are requested to keep scanned images of their photograph and signature of the candidate ready. Since these documents have to be uploaded in the application form, the specifications released by the official authorities have to be met.

Photograph –  The size of the file should be between 10 KB to 200 KB, dimensions should be 3.4 cm x 4.5 cm and file format has to be JPEG.

Signature of the Candidate and Parent – The scanned images should be between 4 KB to 30 KB and should be in JPEG format. The dimensions of the images should be 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm.

Along with these scanned images, the candidates are advised to keep their academic documents ready with them while filling the application form for reference purposes. 

Q. If I don't have Aadhaar card, will I not be allowed to apply for JEE Main 2019? What to do?

Ans: If you do not have an Aadhaar Card then you will be able to apply for JEE Main 2019 as it is not mandatory.

Q. How do candidates of Assam/ J&K/ Meghalaya who have no Aadhaar Card apply for JEE Main 2019?

Ans: Candidates need to enter the passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Government identity number. 

Q. Can candidates from Assam/J&K/Meghalaya with Aadhaar card choose an exam centre outside their home state?

Ans: Yes, such candidates can choose any exam centre across India and the Aadhaar card is not mandatory. 

Q. How can candidates outside India (PIO/ OCI/ NRI) apply for JEE Main 2019 without Aadhaar?

Ans: Candidates outside India may apply using their Passport details.   

Q. What is the JEE Main application fee?

Ans: JEE Main 2019 application fee has been released by the authorities according to the category and gender of the candidate along with his/her choice of examination mode. The payment has to be done in online (credit card/debit card/net banking) or offline mode (e-challan). The details of the application fee are given below.

Q. What to do in case I am not being able to pay the fees in online mode?

Ans: In such a situation, you can pay the fees through e-challan. All you have to do is to take a print out of e-challan on an A4 size paper in PDF format from SBI MOPS page that will contain NTA’s required information in addition to Bank Reference Number. After which, you can visit any of the SBI branches in India and deposit the amount in cash as mentioned in the e-challan. The bank will only accept the amount pre-printed in e-challan. Candidates can take the reprint of the e-challan from the website under SBI-MOPS tab and select appropriate exam.


Q. How many exam centres should we choose?

Ans: Candidates will have to select 4 exam centres according to their preference. 

Q. Is it mandatory to choose exam centres from the same state or we can choose from other states?

Ans: Candidates can select their preferred JEE Main 2019 exam centres from any state. 

Q. If I am a private candidate, or have done my 10+2 from NIOS, what should I put in my school details?

Ans: The marks secured in 10+2 from NIOS has to be submitted by the candidates while filling the online application form. Along with the marks, the year of passing, name of school board, type of institution, name of school/institute of the candidate for 10th and 12th standard also has to be submitted. 

Q. Should I send the JEE Main 2019 application form & any documents to the authorities?

Ans: No. No documents need to be sent separately to the authorities. 

Q. If I have made mistakes in my application form, can I fill another one or correct the mistakes the form?

Ans: Candidates can submit only one application. The correction facility will be opened by the authorities from October 8 to 14, which has now closed. However, it must be noted that no changes would be allowed in the images uploaded. 

Q. What mistakes can be corrected during the period of JEE Main 2019 application form correction facility?

Ans: The registered candidates will be able to make change all of the particulars except the images uploaded 

Q. Where can I ask for help in filling JEE Main 2019 application form?

Ans: NTA has set up the Common Service Centres to help the candidates in clearing doubts regarding the application form filling. There are more than 1.5 lakhs Common Services Centres (CSC) across the country which will provide the desired support to candidates from urban as well as rural areas in online submission of application form and payment of fee through e-wallet
Q. I have uploaded the wrong photograph in the application form. How can I correct it?

Ans: There is no provision to remove the discrepancies in the photograph uploaded once the form is submitted. 

Q. I have uploaded my photograph without the name and date. Will I be able to give the exam?

Ans: If a candidate misses uploading a photograph that does not carry name and date, he/she need not worry. The examination authorities will not reject the application form nor it will require any correction and the candidate will be issued admit card for appearing in JEE Main 2019. 

Q. Do we need to carry any identification proof during the exam?

Ans: No. Only the admit card of JEE Main 2019 along with one passport size photograph has to be produced. However, PwD category candidates will have to carry a copy of their PwD certificate issued by a competent authority.  

Q. I forgot my password. How can I download my admit card?

Ans: If forgotten, the candidates need to reset their password as follows:

  • Click on “Forgot Password”,

  • Answer the security question asked

  • The verification code will be sent to the registered mobile number.

  • Password reset link will be sent to the registered email ID.
