JEE Advanced ranking is based on candidate's aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics across both papers. Candidates have to appear in both Paper 1 and 2 to be considered for ranking. In case two candidates have same aggregate marks, prescribed tie breaking procedure is applied. Candidates with higher positive marks are given preference first. If tie continues, Mathematics marks are considered, followed by Physics marks. If tie still remains, candidates can be awarded same rank according to the rules.
