There are a total of 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across the nation which are owned by the Ministry of Education of the Government of India. IIT Guwahati has two incubator centres for entrepreneurs.
Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), started by IIT Guwahati, has a number of programmes to encourage and support entrepreneurship.
To raise awareness and promote conversations on issues linked to entrepreneurship, IITG-TIC organises a number of events throughout the year in the form of workshops, seminars, roundtables, lecture series, etc. Students, business owners, government leaders, and professionals from the sector are among the attendees.

The Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) was established in 2004 by the IIT Bombay for promoting entrepreneurship and supporting digital start-ups. It manages a business incubator that offers ‘start to scale' assistance for technology-based entrepreneurship and makes it easier for research efforts to be transformed into entrepreneurial businesses. It also awards funds for prototyping, assists tech businesses with incubation, and also manages accelerator programmes through corporate partnerships.

The Science and Technology Entrepreneurs’ Park (STEP) was established in 1986 and recognised as a backbone for innovation and entrepreneurship in IIT Kharagpur. It also assists students with entrepreneurial ambitions by connecting them to various government organisations for financing, concept development, technology improvement, and market preparation.
STEP-IIT Kharagpur collaborates with other incubation programmes such as Technology Incubation and Entrepreneurship Training Society (TIETS) and Technology Business Incubation (TBI). It makes technology transfer between IIT-KGP and the outside world easier by turning research findings into products that can be sold.
