Madhya Pradesh has more than 200 engineering colleges that provide education in different streams of engineering. There are 4 central government institutions and around 9 govt aided or autonomous engineering colleges that offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering. Apart from this, MP has several government polytechnics for diploma courses.

Admissions to Top Government Engineering Colleges in Madhya Pradesh

Admissions in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of engineering are offered based on entrance exams that are conducted by different governmental bodies and private institutions. In MP, the government engineering colleges follow the national-level entrance exam JEE for admission in engineering streams. 

JEE is conducted at two levels, the first is JEE(Main) for undergraduate courses. Candidates who are class12 pass out with engineering subjects can appear in JEE(Main). Clearing JEE Main can give admission to top government engineering colleges of MP based on rank secured in the entrance exam. Candidates can also appear in JEE(Advanced) once they have cleared the JEE(Main). JEE(Advanced) is the second level and clearing this gives admissions in IITs and IISc of the country.

The state govt also conducts MP BE Counselling every year for candidates belonging to MP only. However, the MP BE counselling is also based on the JEE(Main) scores and the class12 marks and there is no other state-sponsored engineering entrance test. 

Performance and placement record of colleges test the quality and performance in terms of delivering education. Madhya Pradesh has some of the best engineering colleges of India, and they have consistently delivered well in campus drives. MANIT, Bhopal which is ranked 61 in NIRF 2019 fetches an average placement of 6LPA for its students. Global companies like Epic, Nutanix, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Amazon visits the MANIT for campus selection. IIT Indore is one of the top engineering colleges in terms of placement drives, in 2018 the college saw around 100 offers with an average package of 16.06LPA.
