TNEA Reservation Criteria 2020 - Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Tamil Nadu will release the reservation criteria of TNEA 2020 to be followed for admission to B.E./B.Tech courses offered by 539 participating institutes. The authorities will provide reservation under seven categories namely OC, BC, BCM (BC Muslim), MBC & DNC, SC, SCA and ST on the basis of TNEA reservation criteria 2020. The authorities will also specify TNEA 2020 reservation criteria for special category candidates. It should be noted that only Tamil Nadu native candidates will be eligible for communal and special reservation of TNEA 2020. Candidates will be able to know about the reserved seats for their category on the basis of reservation criteria of TNEA 2020. The authorities will reserve certain percentage of seats for seven category candidates- OC, BC, BCM (BC Muslim), MBC & DNC, SC, SCA and ST. Candidates can refer the given table to know about the reservation offered under each category.

The authorities will also specify TNEA reservation criteria 2020 for special category candidates. As the special reservation applications will be processed by separate committees, such category candidates will have to pay an additional fee of Rs 100 for each special reservation category at the time of registration. Such candidates will also have to satisfy the eligibility conditions to avail TNEA 2020 special reservation. Only Tamil Nadu native candidates will be eligible for communal and special reservation.
Candidate must have permanent community certificate in permanent card/plastic card, digitally e-signed certificate or electronic form.
The authorities will not consider the Community Certificate obtained from other states for communal reservation.
ST / SC / SCA / MBC & DNC / BC / BCM candidates will also be eligible for selection under Open Competition in addition to reservation.
Candidates claiming under “Sons & Daughters of Ex-serviceman” category should produce certificate in the format from an officer of the Department of Ex-servicemen’s Welfare of Tamil Nadu along with discharge certificate and Ex-Servicemen ID card of their parent.
Candidates claiming admission against reservation for Visually Impaired, Hearing impaired (Deaf), orthopaedically Differently Abled Persons, Autism, Multiple disabilities category should produce a certificate from the Medical Board (containing minimum 3 doctors) of the District concerned certifying the nature and extent of disability. It should be noted that certificates obtained from an individual Doctor will not be considered. In addition to this, a separate medical Board for each category will examine the candidates with reference to their certificates, at the time of document verification.
Candidates claiming reservation under “Sports Persons” category will have to produce original sports certificates along with appropriate forms at the time of verification.
Candidates can refer the eligibility criteria for various categories of differently abled persons mentioned below-
Norms for Visual Impairment- Candidates with low vision of 40% and above will be eligible for claiming reservation. “Blindness” means where a person has total absence of sight or visual acuity less than 3/60 or less than 10/200. "Low-vision" means visual acuity not exceeding 6/18 or less than 20/60 up to 3/60 or upto 10/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with best possible corrections.
Norms for Hearing Impairment- Candidates with hearing ability of 40 db and above only in the better ear with speech discrimination score of 50 % and above will only eligible to claim reservation. "Deaf" means persons having 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears. "Hard of hearing" means a person having 60 DB to 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears.
Norms for Locomotor Disability- Candidates with permanent physical impairment of 40 % and above will be eligible for reservation.
Norms for Multiple Disabilities- Candidates with multiple disabilities with permanent physical impairment of 40 % and above will be eligible for reservation.
Candidates claiming for TNEA reservation 2020 will have to produce certificates at the time of document verification. The following table can be referred to know the certificate issuing authority for different categories.

Naresh, AP Fee reimbursement scheme is applicable for AP Students studying within Andhra Pradesh. But if you want to study in Tamilnadu, you have to bear your own expenses because you will not be entitled for reimbursement if you study outside the State.
