The KEAM opening and closing ranks are not always constant. It keeps changing every year, depending on the various factors. The major factors affecting the KEAM opening and closing ranks are listed below.
Total number of applicants: The total number of students participating in the KEAM counselling highly determines the opening and closing ranks. The more students who appear for the KEAM exam, the higher the competition.
Difficulty level of KEAM: The cutoff trend also gets affected based on the difficulty level of the KEAM question papers. A tough question paper leads to a low score, which leads to higher percentile scores and better ranks.
Number of seats in a particular branch: The rankings are also affected by the number of seats in a particular branch of the KEAM-accepting branch. Branches with fewer seats tend to have higher closing ranks due to intense competition.
Category: The KEAM cutoff also tends to shift based on the categories a participant belongs to. A few of the categories are as follows: General (GEN), Other Backwards Class (OBC-NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and State quota (Home State vs. Other State).
The last KEAM rank is the lowest based on which candidates are offered admission.
According to the recent KEAM cutoff ranks, 7000 is considered a decent rank. Candidates with this rank can get admission in KEAM, which accepts government and private institutions.

If your KEAM general rank is 2234 and you belong to the Muslim category, you have a chance to get admission in good government colleges.
In 2024, the last rank for Muslim category at CET Trivandrum was around 786 for Computer Science, 1082 for Electronics and Communication, and 2197 for Mechanical Engineering. Your rank is just above the Mechanical cut-off. So, you may get Mechanical Engineering at CET if the cut-off goes slightly higher this year.
For branches like CSE or ECE in CET, your rank is not within the previous cut-off. But you may still get good branches in other government or private engineering colleges under the Muslim quota.
You can check cut-offs and apply for counselling here:
https://cee.kerala.gov.in
With a KEAM rank of 22,270, you have a good chance of getting B.Pharm in several government and private self-financing colleges in Kerala, especially through the pharmacy allotment round under CEE Kerala.
In previous years, B.Pharm seats in government and government-aided colleges have closed around 20,000–25,000 ranks, especially under the state merit and reservation categories. So with your rank, you are eligible for admission in decent colleges like:
Government Medical College, Kozhikode (pharmacy wing)
Government College of Pharmacy, Thiruvananthapuram
Government College of Pharmacy, Kannur
Self-financing pharmacy colleges affiliated to KUHS
Make sure to participate in the B.Pharm-specific counselling round conducted by CEE Kerala and fill in a wide range of choices. You should also upload all required documents and keep track of trial allotments and final option confirmation dates.
