Chemistry in Paper 2 was widely regarded as the easiest section among the three. The questions were direct, concept-based, and mostly derived from well-known NCERT content and standard JEE topics. Organic Chemistry featured mechanisms and reaction-based questions that required basic recall and understanding rather than in-depth analysis. Physical Chemistry questions were formula-driven and straightforward, while Inorganic Chemistry leaned on memory-based facts. There was a good balance between theory and application, and students who had revised NCERT thoroughly were able to solve this section quickly and accurately.
Questions were mostly direct and formula-based
Balanced coverage of Organic, Physical, and Inorganic Chemistry
Minimal calculation or lengthy problem-solving required
Highly scoring and time-efficient section for well-prepared students
Physics proved to be the most difficult and time-consuming section in Paper 2. The complexity arose not from unfamiliar concepts but from how multiple chapters were integrated into a single problem. Several questions required cross-topic understanding, blending Mechanics with Modern Physics or Optics with Thermodynamics, demanding high conceptual clarity. Numerical problems were especially lengthy and calculation-intensive, and students often had to read the questions carefully more than once to grasp the context. This section tested great analytical skills and the ability to apply fundamental principles under time pressure.
Most challenging and lengthy section
Questions involved the integration of multiple physics topics
Required strong conceptual understanding and analytical skills
Numerical problems were calculation-heavy and time-consuming

Mathematics in Paper 2 presented a moderate to high level of difficulty. While a few questions were direct and could be solved with standard formulas, a majority involved multi-step reasoning, often requiring strong algebraic manipulation or geometrical insight. Topics such as Coordinate Geometry, Calculus, and Algebra dominated the section. The presence of multiple-choice and numerical-type questions increased the pressure, as they required not just the correct answer but a comprehensive understanding. Time management was crucial, as many problems were lengthy even if not conceptually difficult.
Moderate to great difficulty level
Mix of direct formula-based and multi-step reasoning problems
Heavy focus on Calculus, Algebra, and Coordinate Geometry
Multiple-select and numerical questions increased complexity
Required effective time management
After calculating their score, one question that immediately comes to a student’s mind is, “What will be my rank with this score?” The Marks vs. Rank table gives an answer to that question. The data given in this table is approximate and is based on previous year trends. These figures might vary depending on the difficulty level of the exam and the number of students appearing for the exam this year.
AIR (All India Rank) | Marks |
1-500 | 270+ |
501-1000 | 270-220 |
1001-1500 | 220-210 |
1501-2000 | 210-205 |
2001-2500 | 205-195 |

Hello Student,
Yes your candidature is valid. The primary eligibility criterion here is that JEE Advanced can be taken in two consecutive years, which is satisfied in your case.
Hello Student,
Can you please tell us which year you passed your 12th class? The reason why I am asking this is that JEE Advanced (If you are interested in pursuing a course from IITs) is allowed for two consecutive years. The year of passing your 12th and the next
Hello Student, due to the two-year consecutive attempt rule, you are not eligible to appear for JEE Advanced . You can appear for JEE Main , State-level entrance exams, and entrance exams for private universities.
Hi Nith, admission to IITs is offered based on the score of JEE Advanced entrance exam through the counselling process. Please refer the link to know in details about the eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-advanced-eligibility-criteria
