One such important entrance examination to the premier engineering institutes of India is the JEE Advanced examination, and cracking it is a lot of strategy itself. First and foremost, develop a keen understanding of the syllabus of this exam. Core subjects like Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry must be focused on. Use comprehensive resources; for example, NCERT textbooks will help in building the foundation, and reference books will help in advanced problem-solving. One should maintain a structured study plan, where the theoretical input is balanced along with practice, and revisions are done daily.
Continuously attempt mock tests so one can keep track of performance; don't study by rote but focus on concept-based understanding, and practice different problem types until mastery is achieved. It is how one does it—managing time and consistency of effort that accomplishes the feat. Moreover, most questions are analytical, requiring good numerical ability to arrive at a solution. As we know JEE Advanced is one of the toughest exams, and preparing for it to secure good marks requires an early start and regular study. Secondly conceptual understanding of topics and building analytical and numerical ability is a must.
The previous year toppers of JEE Advanced say they began their preparation right with the preparation of JEE Main. As the syllabus of JEE Advanced includes topics that are covered in JEE Main, making a little extra effort to start preparing early for the exam brings good results. Most toppers say they referred to the previous year papers to get a clear idea about the exam and practised sample papers to know how much effort they need to make in their preparation.
Studying regularly is the best practice to make a strong hold on concepts and practice as many numerical questions as you can to make concepts clearer. Students also say that practice mock tests are a must-do for every aspirant as they help analyze their preparation level and understand their strong and weak areas.
According to previous year toppers, They used to study for nine hours a day regularly. and focused more on building strong concepts and regular study.
According to previous year toppers, They began the preparation for the exam from class 11. and building strong concepts and practicing numerical questions were the main strategy in preparation. They used to study regularly and devote proper time to activities to relax the mind.

Hello!
In JEE Advanced eligibility, the top 5 subjects from your board exam are considered. Usually, they are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and any two other subjects from the main curriculum. If CMS is your optional subject and IT is an additional subject, the board will still calculate based on the 5 highest marks from your eligible subjects. Additional subjects are considered only if they replace a lower score from another subject. For example, if IT has a higher score than English or CMS, then IT can be counted. However, some boards follow strict rules where only main subjects are counted, so you must verify with your board’s official notification. The 75% criteria means your average percentage in those best 5 subjects must meet the requirement. My advice—list all your subjects, arrange them from highest to lowest marks, and take the top five as per rules.
Hope this clears your doubt!
Getting under AIR 100 in JEE Advanced in 6 months is very tough but possible if you already have strong basics and are scoring high in JEE Main-level tests. You'll need 10–12 hours of focused daily study, advanced problem-solving, and regular mock tests. If you're starting from scratch, it's unlikely, but you can still aim for a good IIT rank with consistent effort.
Hello,
To qualify for the JEE Advanced, you need to score a certain percentile or above. This percentile may change depending on those years competition. Generally you need a percentile of 93-94 to qualify for the JEE Advanced. So, every year only 250,000 candidates from the JEE Mains out of all candidates qualify for the JEE Advanced exam.
I hope it resolves your query!!
Hello,
Yes, a person with 40% disability due to OCD and a temporary mental illness certificate valid for 2 years can get reservation in JEE Main and JEE Advanced, if the certificate meets the official requirements.
Eligibility for PwD Reservation in JEE Main & Advanced
As per NTA (JEE Main) and IITs (JEE Advanced) guidelines:
PwD reservation is available for candidates with 40% or more disability.
The disability must be certified by a competent medical authority, as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
Mental illness, including OCD, is recognized under this Act.
Yes, you are eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.
You passed Class 12 in 2024 (CBSE) but didn’t meet the 75% requirement, so you reappeared through NIOS in 2025 and scored 75%.
