Industrial Training Institutes have been established all over India by Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET), under the aegis of Ministry of Labour and Employment. They provide technical and non technical training to students. There are 71 registered ITIs in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh and five of them are government run institutions. Interested candidates can gain admission to UP ITI colleges, through merit or via state-level entrance examination conducted by Uttar Pradesh Vyavasayik Pariksha Parishad (UPVPP), in the month of June/July. Basic qualification is matriculation with a minimum age limit of 14 years. Duration of the entire training period is one to two years, after which, students become eligible to enter the job market.
