yes, it is necessary to qualify in both of the papers, and your marks in each paper should be equal or more than the cutoff marks in each of the papers. however there is also individual cutoff marks you need to get in each paper. both of the papers contains questions from physics, chemistry and mathematics. you may follow the below link to know in details,
Congrats on scoring 97.3 percentile.According to your percentile, your rank will be around ((100-97.3)*869010)/100 which is around 23k.
Again as the number of students appearing in the April attempt will change, your rank will fluctuate. As per your rank, and considering your category ;you can get Mechanical, Metalurgy,Mining,Chemical,Civil, in spot round considering previous year trends. But, I will advice you to give your best for the April attempt and try to score a better percentile to get into a branch of your choice.
You can go through the following link to predict different colleges for you:
Wishing you all the very best for your future exams and for your April attempt.
You haven't mentioned the State and Category you belong to. This is important because the cut offs are different for Home State Candidates and Other State Candidates. So please do help us with these details.
Meanwhile, Your rank can be predicted by using the formula, (100-your total percentile)*869010/100. In your case, your approximate rank would be 66913. Let's say the number of candidates for April exam increased to 12,00,000 then your final rank shall be (100 - your total score) X 12,00,000/100.
You will get good colleges through JOSAA counselling and you also do qualify for JEE Advanced because the expected qualifying percentile for JEE Advanced is 85 and more. But if you want to secure a seat in NITs, you have to appear for April session.
Now to predict colleges, please use our college predictor:
For your percentile your rank can be calculated as formula
(100- percentile)* number of students appeared/100
It comes in range of 86900-120000 in general category. For this general rank your obc rank will be roughly one third of general rank.
For this rank you won't be able to get any seat in any of NITs or IIITs or GFTIs. So better is to focus on your April session and get better score.
Hope it helps
