Read this article below for complete details regarding how to calculate the KCET rank with board marks.
The Karnataka Examination Authority will decide the KCET rank of the candidate with a simple formula. To calculate the KCET rank, a candidate must know their PCM marks from the board exams and the KCET exam. Here is the step-by-step procedure on how to calculate the KCET rank with board marks.
First, know your physics, chemistry, and mathematics marks scored in the board exam.
Add all three PCM subjects' scores and divide them by the total PCM score of 300.
The result you get after the PCM score must be divided by 300, and the result is your board exam score to calculate the KCET rank.
Now, divide your KCET PCM by the KCET total score of 180. Then the result you get is the KCET score to calculate the KCET rank.
To get your final score, calculate the average score of the Board Score and the KCET score.
The final average score of your board score and KCET score will be used to calculate the KCET rank by the KET authority based on the cutoffs and distribution of candidates.
Step | Parameter | Formula | Example Values | Result |
1 | Total KCET Marks | KCET_Physics + KCET_Chemistry + KCET_Mathematics | 50 (P) + 55 (C) + 60 (M) | 165 / 180 |
2 | KCET Percentage (out of 100) | (Total_KCET_Marks / 180) × 100 | (165 / 180) × 100 | 91.67% |
3 | Total Board PCM Marks | Board_Physics + Board_Chemistry + Board_Mathematics | 88 (P) + 85 (C) + 87 (M) | 260 / 300 |
4 | Board PCM Percentage | (Total_PCM_Marks / 300) × 100 | (260 / 300) × 100 | 86.67% |
5 | Final Composite Score (%) | (KCET_Percentage + Board_PCM_Percentage) / 2 | (91.67 + 86.67) / 2 | 89.17% |

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
KCET rank is purely decided based on the marks, but the reservation category affects seat allotment and cutoff.
Candidates can check the KCET 2025 rank on the official website.
The KCET rank is calculated by giving a 50 % weightage to KCET exam marks and 50% to Board PCM marks.
The formula to calculate the KCET percentage based on PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) marks is: KCET Percentage=(180Total KCET PCM Marks)×100

Hi there,
Yes, your daughter is still allowed to go for the vacancy round in KCET counselling.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) after the third round, typically holds a vacancy round, which is an extended or special round, to fill those seats that are left unallocated due to withdrawals or unreported admissions.
As her KCET rank is 34,000, she still has quite a good shot of attaining a seat, especially in private or newly established engineering colleges, or in branches that have lesser demand.
Just frequently visit the official KEA website for the latest updates about the vacancy or casual round schedule, and be all set with the documents so that she can participate at the earliest when the portal goes live.
Hope it helps!!!
Thank you.
