In 2020-2021, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) introduced a variety of courses and introduced the Minor Degree Engineering courses. These minor degrees emphasise that a minor course allows students to broaden their knowledge and skills in contemporary fields, thereby improving their employability prospects.
The minor degree programmes detailed below have been approved by the AICTE. However, according to the Approval Process Handbook issued by the AICTE in 2021, universities, with the help of their Academic Board or Academic Council may offer minor degree courses in subjects that are other than the ones approved by the AICTE. This can be followed as long as the said minor course has 18-20 credits.
These courses highlight specific knowledge and skills that each course offers, allowing students to make informed choices. Pursuing these minor courses alongside their major enhances students' career prospects and equips them with diverse expertise in contemporary fields of engineering.
Careers360 through this article hopes to inform students of courses that can open a variety of opportunities for them. Credits in Minor Degree Engineering courses can offer a valuable edge in the competitive job market.
Let's explore what are the courses available that can be pursued by engineering students.
