QnA related to JEE Main

Ask your question related to JEE Main

Hello aspirant,

Generally candidates opt for PCM with biology only if they have a strong grip over mathematics or they want to attempt the NEET exam as well as JEE exam. If you wish to do something in the medical field such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS or BHMS, you can give the NEET exam.
If you wish to do pursue something in the engineering field, you can attempt the JEE exam. However, if you are unsure about what course you would like to take up further in future, you can attempt both the exams and see for yourself what you wish to do in the future and where you have scored better marks. Though marks do not matter if really want to do something, they can act as an indicator sometimes as to where you can have a better scope of building a better future.

Hope it helps! All the best!

As of now, the official chapter-wise weightage for JEE Main 2026 has not been released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). However, based on previous years' data, we can anticipate that the weightage distribution across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics will remain relatively consistent. For instance, in JEE Main 2025, key topics such as Modern Physics, Thermodynamics, and Organic Chemistry held significant weightage. It's advisable to focus on these high-weightage chapters while also covering the entire syllabus to ensure comprehensive preparation. Once the official weightage for JEE Main 2026 is published, it will provide more precise guidance for targeted study.

If you could not appear for Class 12 in 2024 and plan to complete it in 2027 after restarting from Class 11, don’t worry. Gap years generally do not stop you from pursuing higher studies or appearing in competitive exams.

1. For Class 12 Board Exam

  • You can appear in Class 12 in 2027 without any problem.

  • The education board does not restrict students because of gap years, as long as you meet age and eligibility rules.

2. For College Admissions

  • Most colleges accept students with gap years.

  • You may need to explain the reason for the gap during admission (financial, family issues).

  • Some colleges may ask for a gap certificate from a notary or school authority.

3. For Competitive Exams (JEE, NEET, CUET, etc.)

  • JEE allows candidates to appear in the year of passing 12th and the next two years . Example: If you pass in 2027, you can appear in JEE 2027, 2028, and 2029.

  • NEET has no restriction on the number of attempts , only the age limit (17–25 years for General category).

  • CUET and other exams accept candidates as long as they passed Class 12, regardless of gap years.

4. What You Should Do

  • Focus on completing 11th and 12th with good marks.

  • Collect a gap certificate if required during admission.

  • Plan early for the entrance exam you want to target after Class 12.

Conclusion: Gap years due to financial or family issues will not restrict you . Once you pass Class 12, you can appear for competitive exams and apply to colleges normally.

If you are a Muslim from West Bengal and the state government classifies all Muslims under OBC , then technically you are eligible for OBC reservation , not EWS.

Since you already applied under EWS and the process is halfway done, it may not be valid if the final verification shows that you fall under OBC. For JEE counselling, the authorities will check your caste and income certificate according to the state rules.

What you should do:

  1. Contact the JEE helpdesk or state counselling authority immediately.

  2. Explain the situation and ask if your application can be corrected to OBC .

  3. Keep all official documents ready (OBC certificate, income certificate, etc.) to avoid issues later.

It’s important to correct this before final seat allotment, otherwise your EWS claim may be rejected.

Hello,

No, you don’t have to give JEE Main or Advanced to become an app developer .

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Choose the right stream: After 10th, take the Science stream (PCM) or even Commerce/Arts if you’re confident. Science is preferred but not compulsory.

  2. Learn programming: Start with languages like Java, Python, or Kotlin. You can learn online or join short courses.

  3. After 12th: Do a degree like BCA , B.Sc. (Computer Science) , or B.Tech (CSE/IT) . For B.Tech, some colleges use JEE Main, but many private colleges don’t.

  4. Build skills: Make small apps, do internships, and create a portfolio.

  5. Keep learning: Explore Android, iOS, or cross-platform tools like Flutter or React Native.

In short, JEE is not mandatory . It’s only needed if you want to study B.Tech in top engineering colleges like IITs or NITs. You can become an app developer without JEE by taking other courses and practising on your own.

Hope it helps !

Since you passed Class 12 in 2025 with 70.2% and later improved English in the same year (July 2025) to make it 75% , you have to upload the latest marksheet that shows your improved marks . For JEE Main/Advanced and later JoSAA counselling , NTA and IITs always consider the final result after improvement . During application form filling, you can enter your updated percentage, and at the document upload stage, you should upload:

  • Your original Class 12 marksheet (March/April 2025)

  • Your improvement marksheet (July 2025) showing the revised score

Both documents are important because the improvement marksheet proves your eligibility (75% criteria) while the original shows you passed in the same year. During JoSAA document verification, candidates usually upload both marksheets together in one PDF so that authorities can clearly see the updated percentage.

In short: Use your improved percentage (75%) for eligibility and upload both old + improvement marksheets merged as a single file to avoid confusion.
