Q1. Congratulations on your performance in the JEE Advanced exam 2024! What was your reaction upon seeing your score?
Rhythm Kedia: I was very proud of myself. The result was unexpected seeing how competitive the exam. It all depends on your performance on the day of the exam so one can never be too sure. But definitely, I am very happy with my result.
Q2. Why do you want to study engineering? When did you decide to study engineering?
Rhythm Kedia: I would say, I was drawn to physics, chemistry and mathematics quite early on say 6th standard. I also had my elder brother guide me through the subjects and help me figure out the subjects of my interest. So I decided to pursue the science stream in class 11th.
Q3. What do your parents do?
Rhythm Kedia: My father is a businessman. My mother is a homemaker. My brother has recently graduated from IIT Delhi.
Q4. What made you decide to prepare for your JEE journey from Kota?
Rhythm Kedia: Kota is also seen as the education hub of India. I decided to come here for the experience and atmosphere dedicated to studying. Many students come here to prepare for the JEE Mains and Advanced exam. It creates a competitive environment that helps in the preparation.
Q5. So tell us about other competitive exams that you have appeared for apart from JEE Advanced. What are some of the benefits of giving such exams?
Rhythm Kedia: I have appeared for various Olympiads back from 6th class. In my class 11, I have represented India in two international olympiads- the Asian Physics Olympiad and the International Physics Olympiad. The benefit of such exams is that we get used to the competitive exams from early on. We get to gauge our performance amongst the vast pool of competition.
Q6. Did you take coaching to prepare for your exams and if yes from where?
Rhythm Kedia: Yes, I took coaching from Allen Institute. The coaching also provided me with a peer group that provided a healthy completion and always kept me on my toes.
Q7. Mock tests and sample papers – how extensively did you practise with the help of these? Do you think practising from the previous year’s papers helps and how?
Rhythm Kedia: Yes, I have attempted multiple JEE Advanced mock tests and sample papers. After attempting the mocks I would analyse my paper and discuss with my teachers to improve my performance and grasp that concept. I believe it is very important to deeply analyse your performance and check for the scope of improvements.
Q8. What subject did u enjoy studying the most or found it the most interesting?
Rhythm Kedia: Definitely Physics. I like physics because it explains most of the things around us. I also enjoyed studying mathematics, since it is required to understand physics and also because it is an interesting subject in itself.
Q9. How many hours did you devote to self-studying during your preparation?
Rhythm Kedia: Apart from my coaching classes, I would study for 6-7 hours by myself. Out of this, I would study chemistry for 3 hours. Chemistry takes up more time since it has more concepts that need to be memorized. I would give equal time to physics and mathematics.
Q10. How did you de-stress yourself during the preparation? What are your hobbies? How often could you pursue them?
Rhythm Kedia: Yes, to destress myself during the exam preparation I would listen to music. I would even play music on a synthesizer. I would also play table tennis and badminton.
Q11. You know you are an inspiration to thousands of students across the country. Do you have any message for future aspirants?
Rhythm Kedia: I would say do not be hesitant in asking doubts. Students should clear all their doubts, and practice using all the resources. Focus on time management and gove time to your weaker areas as well.

No, your son is not eligible for OBC NCL for IIT JEE because you fall in the "creamy layer" occupational category, regardless of your current employment status or family income. Students whose family income is less than Rs. 8 lakhs annually and they are not belong to the "creamy layer".

Hey,
If you take an additional exam in mathematics from an open board, as you want to pursue engineering, you will have two mark sheets which is not acceptable for JEE Mains or Advanced or JOSSA. NTA and IIT require single 10+2 certificate with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
