B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering
B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is a four-year undergraduate engineering programme that focuses on electronic devices, communication systems, digital technologies and signal processing. The curriculum generally covers subjects such as electronic circuits, digital systems, signals and systems, microprocessors and microcontrollers, communication engineering, VLSI and digital signal processing.

BS in Electronic Systems

For students looking for a flexible option in this field, IIT Madras offers a BS in Electronic Systems with a combination of online coursework and in-person examinations and laboratory sessions. The programme also covers areas such as embedded programming, digital signal processing, embedded Linux, FPGAs and communication systems.
The programme follows a flexible learning model, with course content, tutorials, doubt-clearing sessions and assignments available online. Quizzes and examinations are conducted in person, while laboratory courses are conducted at the IIT Madras campus each term. Students can choose the number of courses they take in each term based on their available time.
The programme is divided into Foundation, Diploma and BS Degree levels and requires a total of 142 credits to complete the BS degree. Students can also exit at earlier stages with a Foundation Certificate or Diploma after completing the required credits. The BS degree can be completed in four to eight years, depending on the student's pace and academic progress.
Students who have completed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics can apply for the programme, irrespective of their age. Admission is through a qualifier process. However, students who have qualified for JEE Advanced and meet the eligibility requirements can receive an exemption from the qualifier examination.
