IISER Admissions Application Details

IISER Application Fee 

  • Candidates belonging to General Catergory - Rs. 1500 
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST Catergory - Rs. 750

Candidates have to fill the application form of IISER by one of below mentioned streams.

  • KVPY Stream - Aspiring candidates irrespective of their nationality should qualify in SA(previous year)/SX (current year)/SB (current year).

  • JEE Advanced Stream - Candidates should qualify JEE Advanced to apply for IISER Admission, irrespective of their nationality.

  • SCB Stream - Foreign Nationals/ NRIs/PIOs/OCIs, who have completed or are appearing in their class XII or equivalent exam from any of the 30 boards in India can fill IISER Application form. It is also mandatory for all the candidates to score among top 1 % student of the respective boards to appear in IISER aptitude test.

Exemptions to the cutoff marks in IISER Admissions

  • For aspirants belonging to SC/ST category, cutoff marks is 55% for all recognised boards.

  • The cutoff marks for examinees belonging to OBC category is 60% and OBC (non-creamy) and PD categories is given 55% relaxation.

  • Those candidates who will be class XII passed out in 2016 and are recipient of eligibility note from the school board for DST Inspire Fellowship can also fill the IISER application form. 

IISER Application Form for State/Centran Board (SCB) Candidates 

  • It is mandatory for every candidate to meet the specified minimum percentage cutoff marks in class XII or equivalent exam to apply for IISER admission.

  • Cutoff specified in the minimum marks table will not be applicable to such students.

  • General category candidates will be required to score a minimum cutoff in their respective borad exam or qualifying exam (10+2 or equivalent).

  • Only the shortlisted candidates will receive call letters from exam conducting body.

  • Students applying through State and Central Boards channel will be required to appear and qualify the IISER Aptitude Test.

IISER Application Fee Payment for all applicants (KVPY, State/Central Board and JEE Advanced) 

  • Candidates will pay online application fee for IISER Admissions. 

  • After filling all the details, candidates will click on the link “Pay Fees” and they will be directed to the payment gateway page where fee can be paid online through debit card/credit card/net banking.

IISER Admissions Eligibility Criteria

Aspiring candidates must have passed class XII or equivalent examination.

The candidates are eligible to apply for IISER Admissions if they are appearing in class XII in the same year.

The aspirants who want to apply for IISER Admissions for admissions to dual degree (B.S.+M.S. - 5 year) programme have to mandatorily satisfy at least one of the following three eligibility criteria of IISER.

  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna (KYPY) 
  • KVPY-SA [Candidates who appeared in class XI in the previous year as that of admission year and selected for  the Fellowship]
  • KVPY-SB [Candidates who is appearing in class XII in the same year as that of admission year and selected for  the Fellowship]
  • KVPY-SX [Candidates who is appearing in first year of graduation in same year and selected for  the Fellowship]

JEE Advanced Stream

  • Aspiring candidates must score a minimum aggregate mark of 60% in class XII or equivalent exam.
  • They also have to qualify JEE Advance and attain a rank in JEE Advance Rank List.

SCB Streams

  • Aspirants of Foreign Nationality/NRIs/PIOs/OCIs must have passed out class XII or equivalent examination from a recognised board. 
  • The candidates will have to be class XII passed out from a recognised board in India, and have to be within the top 1% of the respective boards in order to appear in IISER aptitude test.
  • Those belonging to SC/ST category should attain a minimum aggregate mark of 55% for all the board examinations.
  • The aspiring candidates belonging to OBC (non-creamy) category have to obtain a minimum aggregate mark of 60% and Physically Disabled category candidates have to attain minimum aggregate marks of 55% for all the board examinations.
  • The eligibility criteria of examinees belonging to general category will have to score a minimum cut-off in their respective board/class XII.

IISER Admissions Counselling Details

  • IISER Counselling is conducted for admission to Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER). 

  • During Counselling, aspirants must choose any of the 7 participating institute for admissions to dual degree (BS+MS) programmes.
