QnA related to JEE Main

Ask your question related to JEE Main

With 95.97 percentile in JEE Mains, your approximate rank would be around 40,000–50,000 (varies with number of candidates and shifts). CVR College of Engineering (Telangana) admits students through EAPCET and JEE Main management quota. If you're applying under JEE Main, you might be eligible for branches like ECE, IT, or Mechanical, but CS may be competitive. It also depends on your category and seat type. You can also try during spot admissions or check for Category B (management) seats.

With an 82.16 percentile in JEE Main and being in the SC category, you have a reasonable chance of securing admission to branches like CSE, ECE, or Mechanical at MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur, under the Rajasthan state quota.

In recent years, SC cutoff percentiles for CSE at MBM have ranged around 80–85 percentile, so your score places you right at the borderline. ECE and other branches often close slightly lower, improving your chances there.

I recommend:

  1. Participating in Rajasthan JoSAA/REAP counselling under the SC category.

  2. Filling web options with CSE and other preferred engineering branches.

  3. Preparing backups like ECE, Mechanical, or Civil, as they typically have slightly more relaxed cutoffs for SC candidates.

Dear candidate ,
With a JEE Main 2025 rank of 105,316 , you will not get EC/EE in IITs or NITs , but you may get EC or EE in :
- Lower tier NITs like NIT Mizoram , Manipur or Nagaland ( in later rounds ) .
- Some GFTIs or IIITs offering these branches .
- Many reputed private engineering colleges .
I would be advisable to fill JoSAA choices for EC / EE in lower - tier NITs and GFTIs , and participate in all rounds .

hello aspirant,

JEE Main is a national-level entrance exam conducted by NTA for admission into top engineering colleges like NITs, IIITs, and to qualify for JEE Advanced (for IITs). It is held twice a year, usually in January and April. The exam is computer-based and includes subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. It carries a total of 300 marks and is 3 hours long. You are eligible if you have passed Class 12 with PCM subjects. Registration is done online through the official website . in , generally starting around November or December. Scoring a high percentile (above 98) is essential for top colleges, so it's important to prepare well using NCERT books and regular mock tests.

Hello Niroja

While appearing for JEE, it is important to know what is the weightage of chapters so you can find the most important topics.

A study done by Careers360 has revealed that in:

1. Physics: Optics was the most important (12.60%) followed by Electrostatics (10.20%) and Properties of Solids and Liquids (8.60%)
2. Chemistry: Co-ordination Compound was the most important (9.33%) followed by Chemical Thermodynamics (7.11%) and Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry (7.11%)
3. Mathematics : Coordinate Geometry was the most important (19.11%) followed by Integral Calculus (10.22%) and Limit, Continuity and Differentiability (10.22%)

Hope this answer helps! Thank You!!!

hello aspirant,

With 87 percentile in JEE Main and OBC category from Haryana, you have a good chance of getting admission in branches like Electrical Engineering at YMCA Faridabad through Haryana state counselling. The closing rank for OBC home-state candidates in core branches like Electrical or Mechanical is usually around your rank. However, for high-demand branches like CSE or IT, your score may not be enough. So, if you're open to core branches, YMCA is a good option.

Hello Kakul

These are the best colleges affiliated to GGSIPU for Btech:

1. Maharaj Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT)

2. Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (MSIT)

3. Bharti Vidyapeeth College of Engineering (BVCOE)

4. Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology (BPIT)

5. Guru Teg Bahadur Institute of Technology (GTBIT)

6. Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Institute of Technology and Management (ADGITM)

7.  HMR Institute of Technology and Management

There are more colleges like VIPS and JIMS Technical Campus but in my opinion, it is better to get till ADGITM or best if you can get the Top 4 - MAIT, MSIT, BVCOE & BPIT (obviously a good branch also).

Please share your JEE MAINS Rank in the comment section, so that I could tell you which college you can get through the IPU counselling.

For knowing more about the IPU counselling, refer this Careers360 post: IPU B.Tech Admission

Hope this answer helps! Thank You!!!

Hello aspirant,

It is strongly recommended that students use NCERT textbooks for first-hand preparation.  Toppers suggest NCERT as the finest book for preparing for JEE Mains.  Students should choose easily comprehensible books with many of examples and numerical problems when choosing the finest JEE Main Preparation 2025 books.  When choosing a book by a particular author, students should also exercise caution, check the book's rating, and speak with teachers and other students.

Thank you

Usually, UPTAC counselling considers either JEE or CUET, but you cannot register twice. You need to contact UPTAC officials for correction or withdrawal before deadlines.

Yes, based on her AIR of 3424 in General and 970 in OBC category in JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch), your daughter has a good chance of getting admission in Architecture to MNIT Jaipur under the OBC category. In previous years, the closing ranks for OBC category at MNIT Jaipur for B.Arch have gone to around1500-1600, so a rank of 970 is comfortably at the lower part of that bracket. However, the final allotment will depend on yearly cutoffs, matrix of the seats and choices filled for JoSAA counseling. Check here for more information: MNIT jaipur
