The Computer Science Engineering (CSE) placement data reveals significant variance across institutions. While institutes like IIT Roorkee (99.07%) and NIT Delhi (100.00%) recorded the highest placement percentage against registered candidates, others showed near-perfect placement rates.

IIT Placements: Highest and Average CTC

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) continue to demonstrate strong placement outcomes across campuses, reflecting consistent industry demand for IIT graduates.

The data shows IIT Roorkee reported the highest placement rate at 99.07%, with 107 offers accepted out of 108 registered students. IIT Jodhpur achieved 98.84% placement rate, followed by IIT Tirupati (98.00%), IIT Goa (97.50%), and IIT Kanpur (97.41%). IIT Palakkad stood at the lowest placement rate of 84.78%, with 39 offers accepted out of 46 registered students. However, the highest CTC for IIT Palakkad CSE was Rs 52 LPA, with an average CTC of Rs 19.14 LPA.

IIT Kanpur reported the highest average CTC of Rs 44.70 LPA, while the average CTC at IIT Dhanbad stood at Rs 26.73 LPA, IIT Gandhinagar (Rs 23.37 LPA) and IIT Tirupati (Rs 23 LPA). IIT Jammu and IIT Jodhpur reported average CTC of Rs 22.32 LPA and Rs 21.26 LPA, respectively.

NIT Placements, Highest CTC, Average CTC

Placement outcomes at NITs show a strong picture, with NIT Delhi achieving a remarkable 100% placement rate, while most institutes recording placement rates above 85%.

NIT Delhi Placement rate stood at 100%, with 68 out of 68 registered students placed. VNIT Nagpur recorded a placement rate of 93.40%, followed by NIT Calicut (93.33%), NIT Hamirpur (93.27%), and NIT Surathkal (93.20%). The average maximum CTC for CSE at NITs reached Rs 52.13 LPA, with MNIT Nagpur and MNIT Jaipur both recording the highest CTC of Rs 64 LPA.

The highest placement package at NIT Rourkela stood at Rs 62.44 LPA. NIT Durgapur and NIT Hamirpur both recorded the highest placement package of Rs 58 LPA. NIT Puducherry witnessed comparatively lower max CTC of Rs 16 LPA, with an average package of Rs 9.80 LPA.

Overall, the NIT placement data highlights strong career outcomes, with a combination of high placement rates and competitive salary packages.

IIITs Placements, Highest CTC, Average CTC

While few IIITs responded, these institutes recorded a moderate placement percentage of 60.10%. The average CTC stood at Rs 13.69 LPA.

The data shows that IIIT Sonepat witnessed a placement rate of 60.91%, with 67 out of 110 registered students placed. The institute recorded the highest CTC of Rs 62 LPA, with the average CTC stood at Rs 13.98 LPA, suggesting that students who were placed received competitive salary packages.

IIIT Vadodara had a larger cohort, with an approved intake of 250 students and 226 students registered for placements. Out of these registered students, 134 students placed, translating to a placement percentage of 59.29%. The highest CTC stood at Rs 56.3 LPA, while the average CTC was Rs 13.39 LPA.

IIT Gandhinagar Branch-Wise Analysis

IIT Gandhinagar reported a clear dominance of its CSE branch among other BTech branches in the academic year 2024-25.

Average Salary Packages Branch-Wise (2024-25)

The data reveals that CSE at IIT Gandhinagar leads over other engineering branches, with an average package of Rs 23.37 LPA. Electrical Engineering recorded an average salary of Rs 23.13 LPA, followed by Chemical Engineering (Rs 17.06 lakhs), Mechanical Engineering (Rs 14.06 lakhs), Civil Engineering (Rs 12.36 lakhs), and Materials Engineering (Rs 9.74 lakhs).

Student Participation and Offers

IIT Gandhinagar CSE recorded the highest number of registered students (40) and the highest number of placements offered (38).

What the Data Says:

• While CSE and Mechanical Engineering had similar numbers of student participation, CSE students (38) received more offers than Mechanical Engineering (36), reflecting stronger placement outcomes.

• Civil and Materials Engineering showed comparatively a lower number of registered students (20 and 16, respectively) and placements offered (15 and 9, respectively) in the academic year 2024-25.

Key Findings

While IIT Dhanbad recorded the highest CTC of Rs 66.14 LPA, IIT Kanpur had the highest Average CTC at Rs 44.70 LPA. NITs shows a more diverse picture, ranging from the 100% placement rate at NIT Delhi to reaching the highest salary package of Rs 64 LPA (VNIT Nagpur and MNIT Jaipur each). IIITs recorded 60.91% placement rates, with the highest CTC reaching Rs 62 LPA (IIIT Sonepat), reflecting that top-performing students can secure high packages.
