    HPCET Marking Scheme

    The authority has conducted the HPCET 2026 exam in offline mode. The Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) will held for 600 marks. Each subject has two sections. Section A carries 80 marks, and Section B carries 120 marks. For every correct answer, candidates will be awarded 4 marks. HPCET negative marking will be done for wrong answers. 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrectly marked answer. No marks will be deducted for unattempted/unanswered questions.

    HPCET Exam Pattern - Highlights

    • The duration of the examination will be 3 hours and 15 minutes.

    • For Section A (MCQs): All the given 20 questions are compulsory.

    • For Section B (MCQs): Candidates need to attempt any 30 Questions out of the given 40 Questions. In the event that a candidate has attempted more than 30 questions, only the first 30 attempted questions will be considered for evaluation.

    • To answer a question, the candidates must choose one option corresponding to the correct or most appropriate answer.

    • There will be negative markings for both sections. The general marking scheme is as follows:

    • Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Four marks (+4).

    • Any incorrect option marked will be given Minus one mark (-1).

    • Unanswered/unmarked questions will be given no mark (0).

    • If more than one option is found to be correct, then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.

    • If all options are correct, then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.

    • If none of the options is found correct or a Question is found to be wrong or a Question is dropped, then all candidates who have appeared will be given four marks (+4) irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.
