If you are willing to work hard and improve your skills after joining College, computer science engineering is one of the most employable course at the moment. You have a lot of varied requirements for your skills
If you are doing BSc, you still have a really good chance of Landing a teaching/ R & D job but that again requires more effort than former.
In my opinion, if you are getting BSc in a good college and are really passionate about it, go for it. You can finish the course with way less fee and have more chances of getting scholarships as well.
If you are getting BTech in a good college the definitely choose it, if employment is your primary goal. You can work hard and land a lucrative job.

I am assuming that you have mentioned your IISER exam marks. If you have scored 48 marks, then your percentage would be around 27%. Since you need more than 55% to get admission in your category, your chances of getting in are low.

Generally 500-600 score is considered good to get into top of the NIT's. 455 is also a good score. There is a chance of you getting into any of the NIT just wait for the reslut and hope for the best.

So with regard to your query, generally many people attempt the GATE ES paper every year for the purpose of entrance into Mtech courses into the IITs. However, there are chances to get jobs in the PSUs as well. The recent ONGC notification which was released mentioned that it is providing opportunities to the Environment Engineers also. Therefore, YES there are opportunities.
