Dear Aspirant,
Yes, it is also for CSE branch of B.Tech. All candidates who are in their final or pre-final year of B.Tech CSE will be eligible for GATE 2022 Exam conducted by IIT Kharagpur.
Qualifying GATE exam with good marks gives you lots of career opportunities. You can go for higher studies in IIT's , NIT's and other good colleges including foreign universities. Also, you can go for jobs in Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) on the basis of your gate score but CSE branch has less opportunities in PSU's as compared to that of core branches because it has less vacancies in PSU's.

GATE examination is a examination which gives you scope to go for different MTech and MS courses as well as it offers jobs to PSU's. So clearing the examination of GATE can be doubly beneficial for you. Now as you said you are in the first year, its a good time for you start preparing. See in general, in the gate syllabus you will have the most of the syllabus from your BTech/BE course curriculum. So just download the curriculum and start studying the courses you have in your 1st year and in your GATE as well. If you go like this then by the third year of your BTech you will cover really a good amount of the syllabus which is great. Now if you wish you can also take tuitions or can study yourself. Also there are numerous groups available online in different platforms, which provides free materials regarding such examination, you can use them as your self study materials. Keep in mind for examinations like GATE you have to know the concepts very well and have to practice a good number of problems on it.

See if you want to do MTech abroad then its better to go for the GRE examination. GATE is essentially for doing the MTech program from the IIT's, NIT's, CFTI's and other private and State Government Engineering colleges. So if you wish to go abroad then you have to give the specific examinations. GATE will not be very much effective to provide you admission to any institute abroad for the course of MTech.
