QnA related to KCET

Ask your question related to KCET

With a KCET rank of 32,189 in 2A category and eligibility for SNQ quota (since your family income is less than 2.5 lakh), your chances of getting Computer Science (CS) branch at SDM Engineering College through SNQ quota are better compared to the general quota because SNQ quota seats are reserved for economically weaker sections. Whether you get a seat in round 2 through SNQ or general quota depends on seat availability and cutoff ranks in both quotas. Typically, candidates with your rank and income will be prioritized for SNQ seats, so your best bet is to choose SNQ quota in counseling to improve chances of CS admission. Keep monitoring opening and closing ranks for SNQ quota for SDM College during counseling rounds.

Hello Aspirant,

With a KCET rank of 93,503 , getting a good college is tough. While Srinivas University is a decent private college with good infrastructure and a focus on placements, an AI & ML course is a specialization. A pure CSE degree from a reputed low-tier college might offer more career flexibility in the long run. Many companies still prefer a core CSE background. Your choice depends on whether you want to specialize early or keep your options open.

With 27,000 rank in ST category, your chances of getting into Forestry (B.Sc Forestry) in government agriculture universities are low,  since Forestry cut-offs are generally much higher (under 10,000 for reserved). However, you may still get admission in B.Sc Agriculture, Horticulture, or allied courses in some government/private colleges under the ST quota.

Thank you!

Hello,

The E048 code in KCET refers to a particular engineering college in Karnataka. To know the exact college name, you can check the KEA CET brochure, where each code is mapped to a college.

Thank you and all the best!

Hello and welcome!

Great question about the KCET rank calculation for CBSE students. Let me break down the process for you clearly.

The KCET ranking for CBSE students follows these key steps:

1. Entrance Test Marks:

- Your KCET exam performance in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology is considered

- Each subject carries equal weightage

2. Board Marks Normalization:

- 50% weightage from your CBSE 12th marks in PCM/PCB subjects

- These marks are normalized to ensure fairness between different boards

- A standardization formula is applied to account for scoring variations between state and central boards

3. Final Score Calculation:

- 50% from normalized 12th board marks

- 50% from KCET entrance test scores

- These are combined to generate your final rank

The normalization process is particularly important as it ensures CBSE students compete fairly with state board students. The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) uses a statistical method to maintain this balance.

For the most current and detailed information about the ranking process, including any recent changes or updates, I'd encourage you to visit our website or the official KEA portal.

Would you like me to explain any specific part of this process in more detail? Or do you have questions about how to optimize your preparation based on this ranking system?

Hello,

Yes, you can write the KCET exam, as long as you fulfill the KCET eligibility criteria . Here are the key points to consider:

  1. Residence Requirement : You need to be a resident of Karnataka or satisfy the domicile criteria.
  2. Eligibility : Students who have studied 10+2 or equivalent in Karnataka or have Karnataka-origin parents may be eligible.
  3. Educational Background : Studying 10th in Karnataka and 12th in Andhra Pradesh should not disqualify you, but your eligibility depends on the domicile rules.

Check official KCET guidelines for complete details.

Hope it helps !

If you didn’t give your choice entry in the first round of KCET counselling, you won’t be considered for seat allotment in that round. But don’t worry, you can still take part in the second round. KEA allows candidates who missed choice entry or didn’t get a seat in the first round to participate in the next round. Just make sure you complete the choice entry properly in the second round, otherwise you’ll again miss the chance.

Meghana,

With 185643 rank in KCET, chances of getting EEE or CSE in top or mid-level colleges of Bangalore, Hubli, Dharwad, or Belagavi are almost zero.

You may get a seat only in low-level private colleges (and that too mostly in branches like IT, ECE, or Mechanical — not EEE/CSE).

If you specifically want Bangalore/Hubli/Dharwad/Belagavi, then you’ll have to go through management quota or higher fee private colleges.

Government colleges and reputed private colleges are not possible with this rank.

Hello,

There is currently know announcement on the second round of kcet 2025 counselling, which includes option editing. But the initial option entry and the mock allocation rounds are over. Candidates will have the opportunity to change their selections after the stimulated allocation. The second round schedule, which includes the dates for optional editing, will be made public on the Karnataka examinations authority's official website.

Yes, if you were allotted a seat in KCET Round 1 but didn’t exercise any option (freeze/float/withdraw), KEA treats it as “no choice entered”, which means you forfeit that Round 1 seat. However, you are still eligible for Round 2, but not as a fresh candidate. You’ll be treated as a candidate who skipped choice entry in Round 1, so you can enter fresh options in Round 2, but your Round 1 seat is gone.
