GATE score 2025 will be calculated using the normalization process. Candidates must note that papers like CS and CE will be conducted in more than one session due to a large number of applicants. GATE score 2025 for such papers will be calculated by normalizing the marks to remove any parity in the difficulty level of the paper. After knowing the marks, candidates can predict the GATE marks vs percentile.
Some GATE papers will be held in multiple shifts. Hence the difficulty level of the exam may vary across different shifts. To overcome this disparity and calculate fair GATE Scores, the authorities use the GATE Normalized method.
The GATE exam is conducted in multiple sessions. Hence, for these papers, a suitable normalization is applied to take into account any variation in the difficulty levels of the question papers across different sessions. The normalization is done based on the fundamental assumption that “in all multi-session GATE papers, the distribution of abilities of candidates is the same across all the sessions”.
This assumption is justified since the number of candidates appearing in multi-session papers in GATE 2025 will be large and the procedure for allocation of sessions to candidates was random. Further, it also ensures that for the same multi-session paper, the number of candidates allotted in each session was of the same order of magnitude.
GATE Marks Vs Rank 2025: Calculation of GATE Score for All Papers
For the GATE papers which are conducted in only one session, actual marks obtained by the candidates are used for calculating the GATE 2025 exam score. For papers in multi-sessions, GATE normalized marks will be calculated corresponding to the raw marks obtained by a candidate and the GATE score 2025 will be calculated based on the normalized marks.
The marks obtained out of the total marks in the exam are the GATE marks. Candidates wondering how to calculate GATE marks 2025 may note that the total marks of a paper are 100. GATE 2025 marks vs score is the indicator of the rank of a candidate corresponding to the marks obtained by him/her.
GATE 2025 score calculation is the percentile score of a candidate obtained out of 1000. It is the indicator of the relative performance of a candidate in comparison to other candidates in a particular paper. GATE marks vs score is the indicator of the rank of a candidate corresponding to the marks obtained by the candidate.
The answer to 'how to calculate GATE 2025 marks' is equally important as provided below to calculate the score:
GATE rank is a position secured by the candidates in the exam. The rank of GATE 2025 is based on the marks secured in the exam. The higher the marks, the higher the GATE rank. In other words, GATE 2025 marks vs rank is the indicator of the rank of candidates corresponding to the marks of candidates. Candidates can also use the GATE marks vs rank calculator to predict the rank based on marks scored.
When candidates appear for the GATE exam, the first question that comes to their mind is what rank is considered a good rank? Candidates must remember that a good GATE rank doesn’t guarantee a job at PSU or the IITs, but a rank under 200 is considered a good GATE 2025 rank. A candidate looking for a job in PSU should get a rank under and those looking for admission in IITs or NITs rank under 1000 is considered a good rank for GATE 2025.
GATE 2025 score is the mark obtained by candidates and the All India Rank so secured is the GATE rank.
The GATE 2025 score calculator gives the candidates an idea of how much score they can expect in the GATE exam.
It is important for those candidates who wish to calculate with their probable scores the institutes or PSUs they can bag through GATE.
GATE scores are calculated out of 1000.
The minimum qualifying marks for the general category candidates in all the papers is 25 marks (out of 100) in each subject.
Candidates having GATE ranks above 200 will get the chance to fill their seats in the leading IITs and IISC.
Candidates can predict their colleges using the Careers360 GATE college predictor to know the institutes which offer admission for M.Tech. course on the basis of your GATE scores. Candidates can also predict their scores using GATE score Predictor 2025 to know their expected score.
GATE scores are valid for three years from the date of declaration of result. For 2025, the scorecard will be valid till 2027.
Based on expected marks vs rank for GATE CSE 2025, candidates scoring 85+ marks are likely to secure a rank between 1 and 10. Candidates scoring between 65-75 marks may fall within the 50-100 rank range. Those with marks below 30 may receive a rank of 10,000 or higher.
For GATE CSE 2024, candidates scoring 75-80 marks are expected to secure a rank between 10 and 50. Similarly, candidates scoring between 72-75 marks are likely to get a rank between 50 and 100.
GATE 2025 will be conducted by IIT Roorkee.
Yes, you can pursue an MTech in an IIT after qualifying for the GATE exam and graduating with a B.Sc. in Mathematics from Delhi University:
You can take the GATE exam after completing a Bachelor's degree in any field.
To get admission to an IIT for an MTech, you must qualify for the GATE exam and choose a field of study. The IIT you'll study at depends on your preference and GATE score.
You can also apply for other entrance exams like AP PGECET, TS PGECET, and VITMEE. If you want to get admission to the regular PG programmes in engineering, pharmacy, and technology.
Some colleges may require you to pass personal interview rounds.
Some IITs may also offer direct admission to MTech without the GATE exam. For example, IITs may admit students who are funded by their jobs.
GOOD LUCK!!
Hi Shubhradev,
MSc students can indeed crack GATE and potentially land PSU jobs, though opportunities may be more limited compared to engineering graduates. Some PSUs do recruit MSc graduates with valid GATE scores, but eligibility criteria vary among organizations. Hence..
Yes, you can apply for PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) jobs with a valid GATE rank, even if you are pursuing an MSc in Electronics and Communication. While many PSUs primarily prefer candidates with a BTech or BE, several PSUs accept MSc graduates in specific disciplines like Electronics, Communication, and related fields.
The eligibility criteria can vary by PSU, so it's important to check the specific requirements for each organization. Some PSUs may allow MSc graduates to apply, especially if the GATE exam is in the relevant engineering discipline (like Electronics and Communication).
Keep an eye on PSU job notifications, as they often list specific qualifications and degree requirements. If you meet the criteria and have a good GATE score, you could have opportunities in various PSUs. You can check more on the given website of Careers360. All the best!

Hello,
Based on your GATE 2024 score of 226 in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) under the SC category, securing admission to IITs may be challenging due to the following considerations:
Qualifying Marks : The GATE 2024 qualifying cutoff for ECE in the SC category was 16.6 marks.
Admission Cutoffs : Admission cutoffs for IITs are typically higher than the qualifying marks and vary across institutes and specializations. For instance, in previous years, the cutoff scores for SC candidates in ECE-related M.Tech programs at IITs ranged significantly higher than your score.
Competition and Seat Availability : Admission to IITs is highly competitive, and candidates with higher GATE scores are generally preferred.
Recommendations :
Explore Other Institutes : Consider applying to National Institutes of Technology (NITs) or other reputable engineering colleges where the cutoff scores may align more closely with your GATE score.
Review Specific Cutoffs : Research the previous years' cutoffs for the specific institutes and programs you're interested in to assess your chances accurately.
Enhance Qualifications : If feasible, consider improving your GATE score in future attempts to increase the likelihood of admission to your desired institute.
