The Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) is an online platform that facilitates the coordination and acceptance of admission offers for postgraduate engineering programs (M.Tech, MS, and PhD) in various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other participating institutions. This portal is used for candidates who have qualified for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in 2026/2025/2024.
To be eligible for COAP registration, candidates must fulfil the following criteria:
Follow these steps to complete the COAP registration:
Step 1: Visit the Official COAP Website
Step 2: Create a New Account
Step 3: Enter GATE Details
Step 4: Verify OTP & Submit Details
Step 5: Login and Access Offers
The COAP platform follows a five-round offer acceptance system along with additional spot rounds (if required). Here’s how it works:
Accept & Freeze: If a candidate is satisfied with an offer, they can choose this option, which means they will accept the offer and not be considered in further rounds.
Retain & Wait: If a candidate is interested in an offer but wants to wait for better options, they can retain the offer for the next round while still being considered for higher preferences.
Reject & Wait: If a candidate is not interested in an offer, they can reject it and wait for better options in subsequent rounds.
Once an offer is accepted and frozen, the candidate cannot participate in further rounds.
If no action is taken within the deadline of a particular round, the offer is automatically rejected.
Candidates who complete the COAP registration 2026 will be eligible to be considered for admission into the following participating institutions:
